I'm so glad they finally ported the mobile versions on Sonic 1 and 2 to consoles and gave us Sonic 3 in that style too. They add so much to those games. I guess my only complaint is that for some reason, Tails's AI in Sonic 2 is borked and doesn't work properly (it wasn't like that in the mobile version). So hopefully they can fix that.

Otherwise, the whole collection is great. Get it!

Do they save your progress in Sonic 1 and 2? Seems like a cool collection, I've actually going to be getting it soon

Yeah, each character has their own save slot but you cant reselect any levels once you beat them. After you beat the game, all you can do is just replay the final boss with that character unless you choose to start over.

This was NOT like that in the mobile ports. idk why they don't just let you choose any level once you beat it. But there is a time trial mode that lets you replay every level outside of the save files

From what I noticed:
-Tails and Knuckles both have intro cutscenes now
-Super/Hyper forms require you to press a different button to activate. This allows you to jump and use shield abilities without accidentally activating your Super form.
-Big Arm is back in Launch Base Zone for Sonic and Tails in Sonic 3, and when you beat him, they reimplimented a previously unused sprite of Eggman going back to the Death Egg as it's falling. Then it cuts to the title animation of Sonic & Knuckles before Mushroom Hill Zone starts.
-The out of place Eggman sprite in Flying Battery Zone Act 2 for Knuckles has been fixed. Now it has Egg Robo in it like every other boss in Knuckles's playthrough.
-The laser boss in Flying Battery Zone Act 2 can be defeated by hitting the blue light (just like in Sonic 2). Previously, you had to wait for it to shoot all its lasers out and destroy itself before you could move on.
-Sonic's sprites are much better animated when rotating, and Super/Hyper Sonic has new sprites to fill in all the missing ones from various animations, as well as new Super music that isn't ear-grating like the original lol
-New credits music at the end
-Knuckles has animation to his sprite when he's gliding
-They changed the music for Carnival Night, Ice Cap, and Launch Base due to copyright with Brad Buxor/Michael Jackson. They're from the Sonic 3 Prototype, but are inferior to the original tracks imo
-Certain cutscenes now take control away while they play out to prevent glitching (ie: Angel Island Act 2 with Knuckles destroying the bridge)
-idk if this was in the original, but if you have a bubble shield and you run into an air bubble, you don't stop everything and breath it in.

I mostly like all the changes imo >_>

Despite some of the glitches and the inferior music track replacement in Sonic 3 (wouldn't have minded the prototype tracks at all, but the mastering was kinda mediocre), I can confidently say this is the definitive collection of these games.

If it was $20 id have already bought it. $40 is way too much

I gotta say that I'm glad Super Tails was reworked in this version of Sonic 3. It felt so weird to have him be normal even with all 7 Chaos Emeralds, and "Super" when he gets the Super Emeralds in the original >_>
