wash, put on air dry rack until all dishes are done washing, then dry with rag starting from first dish washed to last dish

Air dry or a flammenwerfer.
Dish towels are not always sanitary.

I don't have a dishwasher and I don't actively dry my dishes.

Wash 'em, stick 'em in the drain rack, forget 'em.
