They have to be played in their prime to enjoy them, unlike a single player game which can be played years down the road They often have addictive traits, prioritizing bad behaviors over fun gameplay (ie: season pass rewards, contracts, etc) Multiplayer enthusiasts will insist multiplayer is slapped onto absolutely everything, even games were built from the ground up with a solo experience in mind Even when a multiplayer doesnt have addictive traits, they can still be very frustrating because of team balancing. I miss the days when a balanced team meant skills of players were 2+2+1+1+4=10 instead of everybody needing to be the exact same skill level (2+2+2+2+2=10). Back when there were regularly better players on the other team (and yours) it balanced out and forced new players, who actually had the desire to get better to learn high level skills faster. Alternatively it kept players from learning bad game habits, which might work at lower skill levels but not at higher ones. So I find when I or other players do get better at these games, we are left asking, but why did I lose? Where as in games where there is always at least 1 or 2 high skill players, those bad behaviors are regularly punished, conditioning them to not do them.
