Hell I can even get Cyberpunk to around 50fps (in Blur-O-Vision) but Horizon ZD runs like Doom on a 286, geez --- Lenovo Legion 7 - Ryzen 5900HX, RTX 3080 16 GB (165W), 32 GB DDR4-3200 By Grabthar's hammer............... What a laptop. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Kaiganeer posted... does the deck feel good to hold That's kinda hard to answer. It's more comfortable than you'd expect for its size, and IMO more comfortable than the Switch -MOST- of the time. But it's not comfortable if you need to use the track pads or there's a lot of shoulder button use. The actual controls blow the Switch out of the water unless you're using something like the Split Pad Pro (which I do). I really only have two major issues with Steam Deck, honestly - 1 - The OS is buggy and pretty unresponsive. It has improved tremendously with updates, but it's still not quite there yet. 2 - The battery life is abysmal (when playing games, at least). It's actually incredible if all you're doing is PC stuff, but who would buy a Steam Deck just to use as a PC? On the other hand, the level of compatibility with games and the performance you get has consistently surprised me (in a positive way). Basically anything older than a few years will easily run at 60fps, and the vast majority of games I've tried have played without any issues. To be honest, for $399 it's a ridiculous bargain. I have the $529 model because it was the only one I could get to complete the pre-order on Steam, but the performance of SD cards and the internal SSD is strangely identical, so you might as well get the cheapest one and toss in a 1 TB card (I got a 1 TB card for $110-ish) --- Lenovo Legion 7 - Ryzen 5900HX, RTX 3080 16 GB (165W), 32 GB DDR4-3200 By Grabthar's hammer............... What surprises me is that the UI bugginess doesn't usually bleed into game performance. Considering how PC games work, that seems rather unusual. Most games actually FEEL like you're playing some kind of native console/handheld code, and the few times where you have to use the trackpad for mouse controls are basically the only immersion-breaking in that regard. It's really an amazing piece of kit, and if they made one with a better screen (OLED would be nice) the second generation would be killer. --- Lenovo Legion 7 - Ryzen 5900HX, RTX 3080 16 GB (165W), 32 GB DDR4-3200 By Grabthar's hammer...............
