Fantastic soundtrack. Likable main character. Enjoyable kills. First movie to bring Jason back to life, rather than having him be alive/someone else. Killer soundtrack(deserves double emphasis because ALICE COOPER). Basically the best slasher movie ever. Has a PERFECT blend of horror and comedy. The meta humor is absurdly on point.

It isn't overly serious like the ones before or Goes To Hell, and it isn't overly comedic like Jason X, it's the perfect blend of all the best parts of the series. And that fucking James Bond style intro holy shit.

It's the best movie in the series. Now agree with me, or explain why you have a bad opinion.

The only bright side of 7, imo, was that they actually recorded every bit of damage Jason had taken in the series and reflected that on his corpse. Plus Kane Hodder.

Besides that I can't think of a single good thing it added to the franchise. Weird psychokinesis stuff that was leftover from when they wanted a Carrie crossover, the overly serious tone, boring kills...meh.

and considering the sleeping bag kill is the best kill in the entire franchise in no way can you say it had boring kills because that alone makes up for how badly the kills got cut down

also it has the best bitch character in all of horror
plus like half its cast were played by openly gay actors in the 80s which is a big deal because no other genre other than horror would have been that accepting

The best jason movie is Jason and the Argonauts from... I think the 60s?

part 6 is good but it has the really stupid paintball segment where a guy gets his face smashed into a tree and it makes a smily face

The sleeping bag kill was heavily cut down and not half as good as it should have been.

Whereas part 6 has the kill where he twists someone's head all the way around, and the one where he just...punches a hole straight through someone lmao.

I actually think 1 slam works way better than multiple. Looks far more brutal. Less is more. Rare case of censoring made it seem even more violent.

IV is the best because even though Jason is badass and it has good kills, the characters besides Jason are actually interesting.

Regardless of what the best is FtT 9 is by far the worst

I used to like 7 a lot. Kane saves it a little, but I realize the reason its near the bottom for me is the cast. In every other F13 there's at least one or two people who are somewhat mildly entertaining - in 7 there's nobody. I hated everyone. Every single person. The movie DRAGS and DRAGS and is a total slog because of these people until the Jason stuff starts ramping up.

2nd and 3rd are best cause they have Jason's derelict shack scenes.

I do like 7 a lot too though but IV seems like the only one I'd say is actually a quality horror movie.

Ngl, I didn't like it because the opening to FvJ is way better overall, and ignores that trash heap.

honestly the only two of the original series that are hard for me to watch are 7 and goes to hell. both are very boring in different ways

also fun fact it was filmed in the winter. so all those scenes with girls in bikinis and the hot guy tina liked in short shorts everyone was freezing and sucking on ice cubes so their breath wouldnt be visible

the gay actors in it were

the hunky love interest to tina
the token black guy
the cousin of the hunky love interest
the stoner guy
tina's mother

friday the 13th part 2 also had a gay cast member
the wheelchair guy was played by a gay man who sadly passed away during the AIDS problem in the 80s where the president was content to do nothing cause at the time only homosexuals were dying and the general public approved of that

the cast and crew jokingly referred to the film as frigay the 13th
it also has the nickname carrie vs jason
because they wanted it to be freddy vs jason but couldnt get permission to use freddy so they decided to literally create a bullied girl with telekinitic powers as a stand in for carrie

I 100% fully support LGBTQ actors, but that is hardly going to change my mind on the quality of the movie.

Also I just found out that the original writer and director of F13th part 6 pitched a direct sequel to part 6 called Jason Never Dies.

And we're never gonna get it because we can't have nice things.

I like part 5 as a bad movie, that's about it lol.

I don't particularly hate 7, in any case. The only movie I hate-hate is...I guess...Goes To Hell? And even then, I don't hate it. It has some parts I enjoy, but it's easily the worst of the series.

Having had some time to rethink it, I'd probably rate the movies as so:

Part 6
Reboot(really slept on, despite being amazing)
Part 4(just a good movie overall)
FvJ(Freddy and best physical appearance of Jason)
Part 2(had some good kills, first appearance of killer Jason)
Jason X(joke movie but funny joke)
Part 1(decent movie overall, forgettable Jason movie)
Part 7(decent slasher flick overall tbh)
Part 8(boxing scene was lol worthy)
Part 3(so fucking forgettable)
Part 5(has a few good scenes)
Goes To Hell(lol)

it wasnt until they got to vancouver and pretended it was new york that the movie really went off the rails
and while the scene of jason in time square is great. thats the only scene actually filmed in new york.
the boat was the perfect setting for a slasher. its isolated, nowhere to escape to and overall an interesting setting. that gets thrown away.

more people want more new york. i want no new york and more boat.
also rennie is the worst final girl in the franchise
hated her. it would have been way more interesting had kelly hu's character eva been the final girl.
a much more likable character, a much more likable actress considering kelly hu went on to have a really solid career, and would have made her like the only Asian final girl in from the 80s
but nope. didnt work out that way

I agree, the boat was cool. Jason in an urban setting could be interesting, but they just didn't handle it well at all lol.

Definitely the best one. I love all of them. My favorite Jason design is from 7.

I definitely can appreciate the lengths they went to make Jason's face pretty accurate considering the damage he's taken from 7.

6 is good cause the 4th is the best.

part 6 is the only friday movie with no nudity
yet despite having no nudity the sex scene between cort and his girlfriend felt very explicit
like not softcore porn explicit like the remakes sex scene which went on way to long
