Yeah, I set group policy status for windows defender to "not configured" using gpedit.msc but it didn't work

using regedit didnt work either

If it looks a bit like this at the moment, try disabling it and applying that.

for some reason it still doesnt work even with it switched to disabled

I was trying to activate defender to fix a low memory issue (https://techcult.com/fix-your-computer-is-low-on-memory-warning/) but now that became a group policy rabbit hole

was going to search the seas for a defender re-installer but Im probably just going to buy another computer.

literally just wanted to watch YouTube without it taking forever to load/pause/select a video & itll cost hundreds

Have a look in your registry under:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender
