Sri Lanka is undergoing a massive economic crisis caused by its president's inept leadership. Inflation is out of control; the country defaulted on its debt for the first time in its history; there have been critical shortages of basically everything for several months running; and the president is a suspected war criminal who regularly cracks down on protestors and journalists, and appoints cronies and family members to government positions rather than anyone qualified.

To this end, more than 100,000 people have gathered outside the president's house and stormed it, although the president was not there at the time. The prime minister has now agreed to resign as a result of this.
