Then he appears in Bomb Da Base Act II where you gotta cover him with a sniper rifle while he blows up a cargo ship full of Spank. Then...that's it >_> He has all his shops around Liberty City, but I doubt he's actually in there and you don't see him anyway. I just wanna hang out with him more. It's never revealed who took over as the leader of the Leone family. Some people may think Joey did since he was ~~Salvatore's son~~, but he seemed more interested in his garage and didn't seem too involved with the business. The other islands you worked for a mix of people/factions during the main story missions (Yakuza, ray the crooked cop, Donald love the businessman) but the first island was all mafia.
