clyde_frog 07/16/22 3:12:33 AM #1:	I totally can understand what it might be like to feel androgynous, so that I can wrap my head around. But if you were born male and in adulthood youre rocking a moustache and beard, how do you identify as non-binary? If you were born female and present as female into adulthood, what makes you non-binary exactly? Both of my friends look like this respectively and I justdont get it. Its almost like they want to be a part the LGBTQ community without actually being transgender or gay. Like if it doesnt change the outcome in explaining your appearance or sexuality, whats the purpose of putting this label out there? To me its like publicly telling everyone you have depression, or anxiety, etc but sticking a label behind your name to signify that you experience these things every day. Again I have friends who are non binary and I try my absolute best to call them they/them at all times, but this national non-binary awareness day got me questioning this even more. He crossdresses when he's performing in his rock band. Wild hair and all that. But at the end of the day, under the makeup and all, he's still a cisgender guy regardless of presentation. And in this case his name is Dee Snyder, of Twisted Sister fame. You get how he's still cis regardless of how he presents at any given time? That. But nonbinary. And gender is more than just the clothes you wear. Pants are considered gender neutral but in reality it's just that masculine things are considered neutral in western society as a result of centuries of women being oppressed and other patriarchal ideals. So anyway, a cis or trans woman wearing pants is still their respective gender even in pants. The thing is, when trans women do so, it is common for TERFs and the like to try and dismiss their identity by saying they're adhering to male standards and other things. But in reality, how they present doesn't matter at all. Gender presentation is a complex issue in the sense that its a largely socialized response to decades of conditioning. Gender identity is not always reflected in gender expression, nor is it a requirement to be. I think what can be a really useful habit to break when thinking of trans and persons with non-conforming gender identities in general, is that people are not merely identifying as their gender, their gender is an intrinsic and immutable characteristic. Ive seen you post enough to know you are a straight man. Now, what if when I spoke about you, either directly, or to others, I always said, oh clyde? Yeh he identifies as straight and he identifies as a man. but I never said He IS a straight man. Would you feel respected if I never acknowledged that those characteristics were intrinsic to who you are as a person? Its entirely possible that your friends are still trying to understand their gender identities, and its also possible that their gender expression will never change to reflect what you assume to be an appropriate reflection of their gender identity. I support Roe and it should have been codified into law as soon as Obama took office in 09 when he had a super majority.
