Also, why aren't they all on Switch already?! Didn't the dude who owns the music and is a xenophobic asshole die? When can we just port them all to current consoles?!?

I've yet to play 8, and 11. Got farish in 9, but still had a lot more to go.
I am on the last boss in 7 so I feel it's fair for me to rank that one.

I've played the DQ games off and on since the 1st one came out and I got it as a 8 year old kid with Nintendo Power. I've only beaten 1 and 2 though. I'm currently near the end of Act 2 in DQ 11 but I haven't played it in over a year.

Right now I'm playing Dragon Quest Builders 2, even though I'm late to the party. It's spectacular. It scratches that nostalgia itch and combines Minecraft elements with beter story telling and takes place sometime after DQ2. It's such a relaxing game since the combat is super bare bones, which puts the focus on exploring and building. The music is all symphonic remixes of old tracks, and it's just a delight to play.

4 > 8 > 6 > 11 > 5 > 3 > 7 > 2 > 1 > 9 for me, though I love all of them from 3 up. 9 I couldn't finish though.

8 is the best, in my opinion. 7 is my personal favorite.

7 is definitely the hardest, for me 8 is the best. 11.... well I have my own thoughts on that I won't get into.

That one is the second best. Having the balls to do like... 3-4 hours without battle to start the game? All world building and narrative? Fuck yeah.

5, 7, 8, and 11 are all good choices

i said 11 because the games are all so similar and I love the QOL stuff in the modern incarnation

definitely could sway towards 7 tho

7 got my interest hard with the class system and the world building for sure. Any game that gives a class system like that and opens the world like that game did is a leader in my eyes. I loved that, as hard as it made it, the shards you had to look for could be back in like, Rexwood when you are in Falrod or something. It's like, "shit, there's something secret I missed, but where........."

5 but it's also as far as I've gotten so far.

3-HD2D remake is supposed to come to Switch this year.

Only played XI, loved it.

XI is the best but VIII is close. DQ deserves some kind of award for having the most recent game in an ancient franchise be the best.
