I'm 33 and I know they don't start with the old people. If they're banging on my door, whatever war they conjured up is already lost.

We pulled out of Afghanistan, war is as unpopular as it has ever been, we don't want to get directly involved in Ukraine, and drone strikes are the preferred method of engagement now.

So what do we need a bigger military for?

The army are fools to issue a draft in this day and age.

There's no people involved in any process outside of determining if someone is fit for duty - and that goes to physicians who evaluate them physically.

Weird fear mongering going on in this topic.

If they instituted an active Draft while we bare not in any conflict that would break a lot of things. Alot of guys in the military wouldnt like it as it impedes their honor, something already happening.

It wouldnt surprised me if it backfired spectacularly.

Except one party has been pushing for abortion restrictions and allowances for Christian rules for literal decades. Name any prominent politician advocating for a draft.

Instating the draft is political suicide. No politician would do it unless China or Russia are literally knocking on our door, having decimated our existing military.

I think we need to abolish the ban on killer robots, since the draft will lead to disaster.

They won't take me. I signed up for the Navy at 18 in 2003. A few months before leaving for basic I started getting these weird headaches. A few weeks before leaving for basic they identified them as cluster headaches and gave me a medical discharge.

I don't know how anyone could enlist at this point.

We spent two decades fighting in the wrong countries. We went to war with Iraq and abandoned that to focus on Afghanistan, then we lost to Afghanistan. Two decades of people dying for their country and the capitalists that ran the war decided to up and leave like film producers abandoning a once-lucrative series that has run out of steam.

Didn't we recently declassify a document stating that Saudi Arabia attacked us on September 11th? That means they knew, for two decades, that we were fighting in the wrong countries. For what? Resources? To make a profit off of building war machines? The honor and valor of the troops was sold out for money.

It's not possible for the US in its current state to win a war because profiteers will milk it for all that it's worth and go home when it's no longer profitable. Then we'll fall back on the fact that we're back to back World War champions. Nobody's falling for that anymore. If you're attacked and you retaliate, that's justified. If you spend decades plundering, that isn't. Nobody wants to die so that others can get richer.

If they try to draft me, I will laugh in their face and go back to my daily life. Im not being ordered to get my legs blown off and Im not moving to Canada, either. This is my country and if I disagree with a war, Im not fighting in it.

The draft worked during Vietnam because they still had patriotism as a nation and because the people who got drafted knew they were coming home to million dollar salaries and affordable property and medical care. Look what the government has done to us over the course of a few years and ask yourself how many people would report in and how many would do the smart thing and ignore it.
