It is a funny, in the middle of the stuff that happen in Uvalde situation. The press kept reporting the things that they the police said as facts. Like a teacher left the door open and such. Even after they lied countless time. In this case police lied to high heaven because they no unless you do something to disprove them, that even the press ( who hates them lol) would take their word for it .

at this point anything said by the police should be taken as highly suspect and need overwhelming proof that to verify if it's true. too many incidents like this keep happening and the only thing that happens is taxpayers footing the bill and somehow police get more money and protection for their gangs

They're not getting away this time. This guy was literally just standing there with his hands up when he got smacked, and there's video directly contradicting what the chief said. That cop is fucked 100% sure; there's no possible evidence that can come up to get him off the hook.

Considering the Uvalde department is probably not going to face any issues whatsoever even with their extreme ineptitude and open attempts at lying about things? Nah. Texas especially has a lot of lifetime judges who love cops.
