Honestly, same here. I love both of their works but they're definitely one of those cases of "never meet your heroes".

Eh I might have started out disappointed but anyone piling on to attack a group of people currently looking down the barrel of openly genocidal rhetoric is an irredeemable and dangerous piece of shit.

No matter how much I read about all this Rowling & Chappelle malarkey, I just can't bring myself to care. Then again I'm not the kind of person who looks for reasons to hate people.

I started disappointed with Chappelle (I have never cared about Harry Potter), but like was willing to let it go because every comedian is gonna make a dumb problematic joke at some point. Comes with the territory. Then he doubled down. And okay I get it, nobody wants to be told what they can and cannot do so he's lashing out. Then he trippled down. Then he made it like part of his whole personality while literally playing, the "I have a trans friend" card.

So I'm just over him.

Good to know that you don't care about dead LGBT people, I will tag accordingly.

This, with the exception that I like the Harry Potter books, but have always given Rowling a sideways look ever since she went after that fan who made the online HP encyclopedia (or something like, been awhile since that happened and I might be fuzzy on the details).

So nice of you to "let it go" in the first place when trans people were saying how fucked up what he was doing was. :l Like, yay, last horse over the line. Finally realized he's bad and all because you didn't listen to us when we said he was crap.

The Chappelle stuff started out kinda funny. His first "controversial" special had lots of good material and idc if he's poking fun at others. But then he said he'd stop with the trans jokes and then he doubled down anyways but the jokes were less original and less funny and now he's just kinda grifting with his anti-trans label and it's so boring.

As for JK, I really don't care. I see just as much disinformation about her as I hear from her.like people really claiming she wrote a whole book about a murderous trans person. I know none of y'all read that book lol. She should be ridiculed for how stupid Secrets of Dumbledore was though.

Dude, you're being overly aggressive for someone sharing their true and honest thoughts. Not everyone gets it right the first time and we all make mistakes. Comedians are meant to find the funny in everything, which many times means they will make fun of everyone. A lot of times what they joke about doesn't necessarily mean that's what they actually believe. It wasn't until a lot of the double down Chappelle has been doing when most of us realize just how much of a grifter he is.

For me personally, I believe comedians should be able to make fun of anyone but the #1 rule is that the jokes have to be funny... and that's my biggest problem regarding his trans joke. The punchline is always the exact same thing, "oh lawl they're not really the gender they identify with hahaha". It's the equivalent to Stephen Colbert (who is really fucking hilarious) constantly making Trump jokes with the same punchline EVERY SINGLE TIME on his tonight show.

The problem is, time and time again people are bigots against minority groups and nobody outside of those groups believes them until the bigot doubles and triples down. It's annoying and not helpful when it takes people 3+ times to finally maybe see what we've been saying since the beginning. And what's more, I never see anyone ever apologizing for not listening to us earlier.

I'm not disappointed since I never had any reason to hold higher expectations to begin with.

Plenty of people are totally woke about the systemic injustices against them but couldn't give less of a shit about anyone else's problems.

You can tell when a joke is trying to be funny, and when it's just trying to offend people. The latter is what uncreative people mistake for comedy.

Most people actually don't care and laugh with Chappelle. Echo chambers like CE convince people the number of crusaders against the cause is much higher than it actually is.

Which is hilarious when you realize CE's full of old people lmao
