To be fair, nothing about this new feature is paid.

You get a 15-minute special incense for free every day and it spawns more uncommon pokemon (along with both versions of the legendary birds, it seems)

You can't pay for more than one, and normal incense doesn't have the same spawn pool.

Nice. So basically, advertisement for a future raid boss and a nice reward (How good are they meta-wise?) for those who manage to beat the odds.

Sucks but its faithful to the games at least. Wish more legendaries could be encountered outside of raids - when they first added weekly research breakthroughs the rewards were legendaries before all of a sudden they just made them normal Pokemon. Now you have shit like Lickitung being the weekly reward

Without knowing anything about Pokemon Go other than lol, playing Pokemon Go. I actually like this idea. If I cared it'd be a great way to get me to take more walks.

Though I assume the rub is you can use money to speed up such growth.

The catch is that you need to be moving.

I manage a good 1km walk in the 15 minutes and got 20 pokemon consistently yesterday and today. But no legendary yet.

You can by default only hatch one pokemon at a time. The expendable ones only last 3 uses, and there are ones that do reduce the distance needed. Still tedious as heck and they get used up so quickly it's annoying.

Theres 1 free incubator that can be used infinite times. Theres 12 egg slots (9, with 3 reserve for Rocket and Adventure sync eggs). If you want to work on hatching more than one egg at a time you need to buy 3-use incubators. Theres also Super Incubators that cost slightly more and hatch faster.

Theres pools for eggs (Ill show one below - yes, I havent gotten ANY Jangmo-o yet, that is how rare the 4/5 egg mons are as hatches). With there being a lot of trash in the pools, even for 10 and 12km eggs

Lickitung is amazing for Great League but I get your point. At least, legendaries are still obtainable through GBL.

Also, 7Ks have been the primary method to get regional variants for like 2 years now so its not exactly surprising. At least theyll probably do an egg event or have them in raids when their shinies are released.

7km eggs were exciting when it was all new Alolan stuff, or babies which were rare back then. Now theyre littered with old trash you have a million of already like all of the other egg pools. Eggs would be cooler if you had better chances of getting rare/powerful stuff.

I wish Nintendo or Game Freak were more involved in the creation of these games instead of Niantic. I'm sure they would have made the monetization a little less predatory, more like Fire Emblem Heroes (where I have dozens and dozens of 5* units and am caught up on the story without ever paying a dime)

With Pokemon Go if you live in a suburban or rural area with few Pokestops, you literally can't even play the game without buying Pokeballs. There should at least be some tier of free/unlimited Pokeballs, even one that you can only throw once at each encounter or something. It's pretty harsh to make it where you can't even play the game without paying money...

(And no, nominating new Pokestops doesn't work. The moderators refuse to add new stops in rural and suburban areas, even stuff like ornate parks or baseball fields or tennis courts. But they will happily add a new Pokestop as some random dumpster downtown next to 20 other Pokestops. They can go fuck themselves)

They have a free Daily Box every day that has 3-4 Pokeballs in it.

But I agree that the way Niantic handles the game could be much better.

I live in the suburbs and had over 1k ultra balls at one point. Really its rural people that get the shit end of the stick. Though it would be a lot better to play if I lived in an urban area.

Also the monetization could be a lot worse too. I think the game is hampered a lot more by the companys vision for AR and going out. Covid changed peoples habits a lot and Niantic is just nerfing everything to force people to go out. So it hurts covid-conscious people and the disabled.

Yeah, I take the daily box and the balls from the 20 friend gifts per day. Those last all of 10 minutes, if that. And that's with me hitting almost every throw

That's great for you but really just points out the imbalance of the game and how Niantic has done nothing about it. If on one hand you have people needing to throw away tons of pokeballs, and on the other hand people who are unable to even play the damn game for prolonged periods without paying money for pokeballs, there is a fundamental problem with how your game is designed

And they refuse to use the main method they have to fix this, which is being liberal with new Pokestop creation. This would also help get more players and harvest more location data, so they are literally going against their own interest. Total incompetence

Nope, the new daily incense specifies you have to be moving

They also nerfed regular incense where it might as well not even work at all when you're stationary. You only get like 1 Pokemon every 5 minutes now. It went from a decent way to play the game when you're sick or during bad weather, to totally useless

I absolutely hated this as well. When Community Days and Spotlight Hours happened, it was a easy way for me to play at home and still get my day's worth of the Pokemon. Now, I rarely bother with Spotlight Hours, and if I want to do a Community Day (like with the Deino one in June), I have to go to a nearby park which has three PokeStops in it. And on the Deino day, it was over 90F degrees, and my phone started to overheat after a while, which made me waste time cooling it down and rebooting.

Plus, the nerf of them reducing the hours down to three instead of six, giving players even less of a window and screwing over players who may have to work Saturdays or Sundays.

Eh I got a bunch of those three already anyway

DeFit still works.
They also put the Incubators back in the store boxes, perhaps after the outcry when they changed it.

However, the Weekly Boxes are shit now, after they stopped offering Remote Passes in them, as well as increasing the cost of the 3 Remote Pass bundle from 250 Coins to 300 Coins. And now, Community Days are making it so that there are special Four Star Raids that you can only do in-person, not remotely.
