the recent study sought to address the oft-touted claims of the perpetually offended such as disgraced critic Anita Sarkeesian

Most of the normal women I've talked to actually prefer the "sexy" outfits on women instead of the covered up puritan look.

I'm gonna have to call the study into question. There have been multiple studies into how Social Media, print media, movies, etc have all have negative side effects on body image when it's overly sexualized.

Now all of a sudden video games are the exception lol

Self perception and attitudes towards others are different effects, though. This study said it doesn't make someone sexist, not that it had no effect on body image.

Seeing titty in a video game isn't going to turn someone into a misogynist >_> They'd already have those beliefs whether they played with the titties or not. It's like those old out of touch politicians who wanted to ban GTA because they thought it caused violent crimes

It says both. But as for body image issues. idk I ain't a psychologist lol. My unprofessional armchair opinion is that it probably stems from low self esteem or confidence, whether directly from body image, or from some other personal issue a person has and body image insecurity is just a symptom of that underlying issue.

I ain't in the best shape but I see buff dudes all the time and it doesn't depress me. It just sorta motivates me to want to work out more and improve myself; not blame society and request fat dudes be in games just because I'm 20lbs overweight or something lol. I'd rather see buff hot dudes >_>

Hence why I think body image insecurities are from underlying personal issues that are really unrelated to the media, in my unprofessional opinion.

More Gen Z'ers are getting plastic surgery than any other generation because of social medias like Tik Tok and Instagram that glorify that shit.

That's just how I perceive it >_> I see hot dudes as a goal to strive for, not a threat. I want to improve myself to be up there.

But you should always strive to improve your body and mind. It's one of the many lessons I've picked up on my pilgrimage and hardships as a Titty Meister >_>

There are multiple degrees of separation between seeing peers do something on social media and seeing a buxom character in a video game. For a start the game is obvious fiction; and that's already glossing over the difference in seeing perceived peers do something on social media.

To look at it a bit further, look at the difference in how female characters are presented in video games made in the West, all the fuss that was and is made over representation, and how the men continue to be sculptured masses of muscle without nary a peep to be heard. Now, you can point to physical appearance being stressed more on girls in society, but it is quite the leap to go from 'your peers will judge you in real life' to 'seeing attractive female characters in video games harms the psyche of girls'.

In order for that argument to really hold any sway it would be necessary for people to be unable to distinguish between the clear fantasy of a video game and the reality around them. It's the same way that people tried to claim that video games were 'murder simulators' only to be laughed out of the room. Picking up a keyboard and mouse doesn't turn you into a killing machine. In the same way seeing a clearly fictional virtual woman in hot pants isn't going to cause brains to implode.

Eh I've always preferred a more realistic-looking and less-sexualized character design.
