  1. Would you go with Kid Link, Adult Link, or both?
  2. Would you base the film on one game or composite the film from elements of different games?

Bonus Question: If Link had to transform, would you make him a wolf or a pink bunny?

Adult Link...
New story based off things from all the game.
Pink Bunny that was so great since it showed that Link was just a good person in side.

I feel like WindWaker lends itself best to a movie.

Decent amount of companions and recurring characters. Compelling mythological hook to set up the story that doesnt necessitate viewer's prior knowledge. Themes of loss, love, and regret that are relatable to casual audiences.

If I had to give him a transformation, probably do a pink bunny lol

I've never really thought the structure of Zelda stories would lend itself to a successful film tbh

But if it had to be made, I'd go with a young adult link, like 19 or 20 and it would be an original story for the franchise

A single movie? Adult Link.

A film series? First movie is kid Link, second is young teen Link, third is adult Link. And have there be different baddies, with Ganon an overarching mastermind/puppetmaster for the first films before being the main bad in the third.

Regardless, a new story. Let there be debate where on the timeline it falls.

I'd have to do at least a trilogy, it would be based mostly around ALttP.

Have the first movie be him going through the first 3 temples, showing him as a growing adventurer. Hed be a young teen (13-14). End with him getting the Master Sword.

Secon movie would be him going through the last temples in the light world, and end with a cliffhanger of him entering the dark world and becoming bunny link.

Third would be his adventure through the dark world, condensed a little and ending with his final battle against Ganon.

Items he would get would have to be a little limited so that it doesnt get to crazy. Like, maybe one medallion that has all 3 effects? Idk.

Nintendo just bought an animation studio, allegedly due to positive experience with the Mario movie and wanting to do more, so hopefully we have an animated Zelda movie or miniseries in our lifetimes.

If I'm gonna bang out a script now.....

Starts with young link living in an unspecified forest with other kids, lost boys style. Some bullshit happens and a kid runs off into something dangerous and Link has to go rescue them. Basically very similar deal as the beginning of TP except Link does it with basically nothing / no equipment. Finds the escaped kid cowering in the corner from a giant spider boss. Link tries to use a torch to scare off the giant spider but fails miserably and just at the spider is about to bite his head off he puts up his arm to defend himself and the triforce of courage mark appears and starts shining really bright and forces the spider to run away. Old as fuck impa shows up then who was just watching the whole thing because lol explains to link he's been chosen by the triforce which is something that only happens when Hyrule is threatened by evil and that he should seek out sahasrahla for more information. He leaves but impa stops him and is like "it's dangerous to go alone. Take this" and gives him a nice sword.

Fast forward to adult link. He's been searching for sahasrahla for years but nobody has ever even heard of the guy. While working odd jobs on a horse ranch for money he hears news of the gerudos have appointed a new king and someone tells Link that the new king might know who Sahasrahla is.

So he goes with his horse into the desert and gets an audience with the king who is ganondorf obviously. Ganondorf, who is eager to meet with link is like "I have no idea who you're talking about"

Link shrugs and starts to walk away and then gets sucker punched as he's leaving. He wakes up in the dungeon underneath the gerudos palace. Ganondorf apparently told the court he was an assassin sent by Hyrule.

He realizes Sahasrahla is in the dungeon with him. Sahasrahla tells Link that he's using the assassin excuse to launch an invasion of Hyrule and kill their current monarch, Zelda, but that it's impossible to stop him because he's secretly the demon king Ganon and in order to dispell the illusion magic he has, you need the master sword which only the person chosen by the triforce of courage can use and Link is like "oh shit you mean this thing?" And Sahasrahla is like "yes that thing you asshole. You could have said that like 10 minutes ago."

Sahasrahla gives link an ocarina and says he can play it to teleport out of the dungeon and around Hyrule and he has to go get the master sword from the lost woods.

So he gets the master sword but Ganondorf was anticipating this and was waiting in ambush and as soon as he pulls out the master sword Ganondorf attacks him again but gets surprised when the mysterious shiek jumps out of nowhere and cheap shots Ganondorf forcing him to retreat. When link is like "how'd you do that I thought you needed the triforce" and shiek is like "I got one" showing the triforce of wisdom mark.

Sheik explains Link and him need to go confront the incoming invasion of the Gerudos. They go and fight him for a bit when link finally figures out how to use the master sword and dispels the illusions revealing Ganon while simultaneously getting rid of Shiek's disguise and everyone is like "you were princess Zelda the whole time?!" And Zelda is like "shut up and fight" then they do a combination sword + arrow attack or some other bullshit cgi fest and Ganon is dead and everyone goes home happy.

I was ten when the movie came out, and I distinctly remember that movie being what triggered my taste receptors. I wanted to like it - it was a Mario movie, why wouldn't I like it? - but couldn't understand why I didn't, and felt borderline-depressed over this conundrum for weeks before finally coming to the realization that it was simply a bad, bad movie.

Mario Bros honestly isn't a bad movie it's just got nothing to do with the video games. If you're a fan of the video games, you'd probably be very disappointed. If you show it to a kid that has no idea who Mario is, then they'd probably be entertained.

Yeah, I was going to say that Wind Waker was the best option. You said it well.

Twilight Princess might be second, but the Ganondorf "twist" would be even worse and clunkier in a movie format.

The Camera Pans around a 3DCG adult white male, with elven ears and blonde hair, and you hear a familiar voice (Nolan North) say "I'm sick of this shit, Navi."

As the Camera pans out you see Link has just stabbed a re-dead, and there's blood all over his sword, that he wipes off, on the nearby grass.

"How long did you say before the Sages appear?"

A miniature adult woman is fluttering and fluttering around Link, whom has blue-hair and four wings, says "Hey! Listen! So am I, but the Sages aren't due to appear for another 5 years."

As the Camera spins around you see a mountain of re-dead corpses burning... and a small male child (Kokiri, with green hair) whom has a torch in his hand.

We then see Link sitting down drinking some beverage (A label of Lonlon milk gives away what's inside), and the Kokiri is dragging the latest corpse to the pyre.

Link smiles at the Kokiri, and says "Thanks, Grandad!"

Difficulty would be I imagine that Link was literally meant to be the link between players & the videogame world in the games, and with a movie that concept wouldn't hold up as well.

I actually like this idea, it feels like it'd be impossible to translate a full storyline like from OoT 1:1 because it doesn't support the flow of a traditional movie. But there's an option to create a sort of survival-like story where we watch Link as a silent protagonist try and escape the clutches of being like imprisoned by the Gerudo or something or another.

Alternatively WW lends itself well because it is more cartoony so it's less awkward to transition. I can imagine some sort of wacky story in which cartoon Link is made to be this goofy character exploring the seas on his boat.
