Don't ask how or why you fell for it. The fact of the matter is that L--the man calling himself the real L--has now narrowed down the metropolitan region in which you live and announce that fact on TV. However, you do not have any relatives working with the local police department.

Could the authorities still track you down and arrest you?

I happened to see a bit of an episode tonight. Light deliberately baits L and clues him into the fact that he can choose the time of death which also tells L that Kira has access to the police database. I'm pretty sure this isn't the only instance of Light giving him information he otherwise wouldn't known

I think most people would do better than Light.

Depends? If they couldn't find the person after that, I'd assume that they'd not only inform the fbi/law enforcement to look out for anyone suspicious(probably won't help them), but also change broadcasting, broadcast different names in each area to narrow it down, cut it off entirely to see what happens, or even monitor TV and internet usage.

Depending on what happens next and navigating that is the biggest hurdle. Which probably wouldn't be too hard depending. Assuming no one else writes a name, or understands the book or even just paper from it is a weapon, there isn't much chance to get caught.

No for arresting. Iirc Light himself said the only way they could arrest him is either through confession or by proving the note as used by him was a murder weapon. It's a magical artifact after all.

As for merely tracking me down, well, Misa found Light didn't she? Although there's basically 0.0000% chance the authorities can use her method to find me.

Keep in mond, Light also clued people he is a student by not changing his killing times.

Killing the FBI agent was also a mistake on his part.

Light was actually terrible at killing. He was great at hiding the book, but his timing and kill reasons were ass.

Lol wow. I'm sure, we have a bunch of geniuses on Gamefaqs that surpass Light. Some people certainly act like it. Light did that because he's arrogant which can lead even a smart person to making some bad decisions.

Oh, I have no doubt that Light is smarter than everyone on this website, but he made multiple dumbass decisions because he thought he could outplay L. CE would be so worried about getting caught that they wouldn't be doing that.

To get caught when you're remotely murdering people across the planet with a magic notebook requires you to be a moron.

Idk if he would still figure me out. L could figure out Kira was a student because of his system of killing people after school was out iirc (he didn't consider Kira could have been a teacher or school staff??) I'm not a student. Just a reminder that killing criminals wasnt lights main objective, or even his secondary objective. His main objective was to become god-king of the world, secondary objective was to improve society by killing off the undesirables. Thats the motive behind a lot of the things he does where he gains notoriety but someone else would think it through and not get caught

Death is predestined in the DN universe, except when it comes to the death note itself. The shinigami can see the time of death.

It's pretty much pre-destined. Light's lifespan clearly was much longer but Ryuk was not wanting to see him Rot in jail and be bored all day. So he killed Light himself. I mean he pretty much says in both versions he will be the one to write Light's name in his own Death Note.

Light did not know his own timespan nor can Ryuk give that information out. So if he had say 20 years left why would he want live for only 10?

Its a rule established in the series and adhered to consistently, its just how the magic works. You're supposed to apply suspension of disbelief. If you can't, that's on you, not the writers.

He was told not to make unnecessary movements, but had no way of knowing the movement he made was unnecessary.

"The Japanese police are completely incompetent and won't keep watch of former Kira suspect Light's movements" was not something one'd reasonably assume. Even Light mentioned they were stupid to let him stealth write names down.

I mean it's true Mikami wouldn't ever know as Light gave him freewill. There was basically no communication IIRC between the two as Light trusted him fully.

What are you even saying. It was established with pre-destined death the entire time throughout this series. If it was a plot hole I could see but it never was. You have multiple stuff with fiction like this such as Final Destination.

We can even see Misa was suppose to die way earlier on by the stalker but a shinigami saved her life which added his years to hers.

Half of your life is whatever the writer says is. Its not predetermined at all. No characters has a set life span. Its whatever they say it is.

Half of anyones life means anything because they can say its anything. You never really established theyre life span. You arbitrarily say whatever it is based on the situation.

Misas lifspan is quartered yet extended by Geluses sacrifice so her remaining life is: It doesnt matter. Its irrelevant and the writer wont say and the stories done.
