I mean I more shit on the volatility of content creating as a career, since it's one of the things because of paid advertising and just in general the fact that it's something only a select few can do anyhow that makes it the least practical career path you can follow.

While true, there are many examples of retail jobs that are career moves that pay well. Pharmacists, Optician, etc. can often be retail but pay really well. Managers can make a lot of money and in specialty stores (paint, flooring, wood, automotive, etc.) you don't deal with standard customers like grocery, clothing, or big box stores -- similar to how a matre d at a 5-star restaurant has different clients than the McDonalds manager.

Working retail made me want to go insane so many times... At least where I worked was the definition of how the fuck does this place make money?

Managers constantly yelling at staff, staff constantly taking days off even when they weren't sick, people putting shopping carts in the most fucked up places (literally had people stack shopping carts on top of one another instead of bringing it back to the store), people leaving groceries in the most fucked up places (Rutabaga in the freezer, frozen chicken wings left in a cart literally stopped near a freezer).

I've seen people steal, I've seen people slam the handicap carts into the soft drink aisle causing the entire 50 foot aisle to fall down spilling soda everywhere, I've seen customers yell at staff because they were having an off day, I've heard about customers hitting staff with a frozen turkey because they were fucked in the head. I've even been around for a customer backing over a staff members leg shattering it and the guy was unable to walk for nearly 2 years. It was kind of his own fault for not wearing a safety vest and chasing after someones cart.

I've seen management yell at staff for sitting down to tie their shoes, I've personally been yelled at for bringing in a coffee at 5 in the morning by management because "If I'm not allowed to have coffee neither are you". I've had management want me to hold open a garbage bag to put 3 pieces of garbage because they are too lazy to use both hands. I've been told "you should be thankful your getting hours", meanwhile I'm getting 5 hours for 3 weeks worth of work which is against the law where I am.

But we showed them, my entire department all mass quit the same day.

So many fucked up stories working just 8 years of retail, thank fuck I'll never have to work there again.

Where I work it's about addiction.
So really it will always make money.
