Has this happened more or less than the number of celebrities taken out by "cancel culture"?

Weren't there some TV shows that were widely marketed for being socially progressive, and then lost ratings and got prematurely canceled? Maybe some cartoons?

Netflix has cancelled a number of "woke" shows

It happens very frequently with media which has no selling point outside of "we're woke"; far less so with media that is inherently good but also incorporates "woke" elements.

Happens quite rarely, despite what the alt-right of CE would have you believe. The person above fishing for Netflix, for example, coincidentally neglected to mention that the woke cartoons recently cancelled were because Netflix is distancing itself from animation in general.

Yes. It did really well. That's my point about the other side - those that are woke, but also inherently good rather than solely relying on "hey look at us we're woke" as their only selling point, don't go broke.

Yeah, no, that's absolutely not what happened. Carano was fired because she made a post saying that modern day conservatives were as much victimized as Jews were during the holocaust.

More than that. It fucking sucked.

Yeah it was "gurl power" and "men are dum dums" for a good chunk of the movie, but i wouldnt call it super woke.

The main issue i had with it was the overabundance of bad CGI. Like Live Action Scooby Doo bad.

The plot was pretty stupid, especially the main bad guy who was another one of those "Evil for the sake of being evil" types.

They tried to do callbacks to the OG movies, but it all fell flat.

Gina Carano. She did get undeserved hate for the pronoun BS, but if I'm not mistaken, what she really got fired for was comparing hate against conservatives to hate crimes in the holocaust. It was an easy misunderstanding, last I checked, but nevertheless she never got her role back.

Never. It's bullshit made up by conservatives who don't understand how the world works and need a simple explanation that justifies their incorrect worldview. Acknowledging the exceptions (Black Panther lol) is basically an attempt to rationalize their dumb ass fantasy by retroactively inventing rules for the game, rather than recognize the actual material, spiritual and social realities that made the movie a success, but also in reality in general. This is understandable because if they did recognize material, spiritual and social realities, they would have a crisis of conscience and would either have to admit that they're the baddies, then re-examine and change their beliefs, or go into even further denial. Very likely most of them already recognize these things inside, and are in increased denial, which will eventually lead to further crises and eventually either a personal awakening to a better self, or to fascism, which are the ultimate goals of traditionalism in crisis.

As others stated the closets thing or at least well known would be Ghostbusters and that was mainly becasue of the fact that the people involved were clapping back, and if I remeber right they were doing that at James Rolfe's expense with his video not wanting to watch it. ANd then consant shit talking from the director..

I have a feeling that most people who pay for movie tickets don't care about weird nerd drama - even if they're aware of it. It's very likely that Ghostbusters '16 owes most of its failure to A.) an inflated budget and B.) being part of an old franchise which hasn't been relevant for over a quarter of a century. That Afterlife actually made slightly less money than '16 (roughly equal if we're just talking US box office) would indicate as much, moreso than the film's actual qualities or political meanings that people read into it, since Afterlife is explicitly meant to contrast '16 and may have made a small profit from similarly low box office.

Netflix's problem isn't being woke, it's making tons of shows and canceling anything that doesn't become "the next Stranger Things."

They are spending money they don't have.
