idk how this can be improved upon in DMC6 >_> It's literally perfection. The only other thing that gives me a high like this is getting combos in the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games. Just keeping that combo up in both games is so fucking satisfying

Definitely, Virgil has pretty much always been peak DMC gameplay since 3. I really hope that they can somehow make him even better next time again, maybe adding another style, some more dt options, and potentially more other weapons or even combos and such.

He'll always be my favorite character.

Going berserk on a glorified sandbag that cannot fight back if you have half a clue what you're doing is kinda lame and gets repetitive.
I also think it's lame that he can play any level but the other three characters stay quarantined in their own.

He's not even hype in this one, he's older and humbled and the less extreme sounding voice lines exemplify that.
In the boss fight he doesn't even try.

At least Tony Hawk games always have you teetering on the precipice of a dropped combo if one move goes awry. Vergil can just go "Oh no I dropped em better spin the wheel and see if they're getting the pile of judgements cuts, the Akuma third strike super or the XYXYXYX mashing."

I am fiercely attached to the DMC3 voice but the Japanese voice did get a Whoa what is that voice he sounds so stuck-up reaction from me which means he did good.

I was sold when in Mission 19 the 2nd phase transitions and when he roughly says "prepare to die". He actually sounded like he wanted to kill Dante. The DMC3 voice... fits the PS2 b-movie aesthetic

I think I'd prefer if Vergil had a deeper voice than Dante. Dan Southworth sounds more like Dante's sidekick than a final boss and "Urizen" for fighting

I also enjoy the Japanese voice actor when you transform into SDT and when he does super moves. Dude knows he's in a shonen anime

DMC 4 you can miss this, but then you will not know who Nero is or where he came from and his connection to Vergil or anything like that. But you can still play DMC 5 and keep up. You will be able to piece together what you get from DMC 5. It's not like what you are missing is convoluted. Whatever you put together and whatever is obviously not explained is what you are missing from DMC 4. And it's as straight forward as it gets. They make no attempt to hide anything.

Essentially if you play DMC 5 you can figure out the story and through this you can figure out what was told in the story of DMC 4.

Fluck the remake. It can go die in hell. It has literally nothing to do with the main line series. Nothing missed.

Sometimes I wonder how different things could have been if Tameem and his henchmen didn't throw themselves in front of the series.

2013 could have had a game that took DMC4's pre-existing playable characters and spent much more dev time on the levels. Still feels unlikely considering post-2012 Capcom turn most of what they touch to ruins.

We might also have a Vergil that doesn't spend the whole game itching for a fight then decide plodding lethargically to the side while throwing one easily reflected summoned sword at a time is a good strategy.
