In my opinion Dave Chappelle has cracked jokes at everyone's expense forever. He cracks jokes about a certain group of people and all of a sudden everyone want his head? Comedy is comedy and comedians shouldn't be scared to ply their trade. There's always the option of not listening to him.

He's not cracking jokes, he's voicing his bigoted thoughts under the pretext of comedy but the punchlines all boil down to either
"lol they're transgender" or
"transgender women aren't women"
And he said he's tram TERF. And he's said he would stop then doubled, tripled, quadrupled down in his specials and he keeps making the jokes at his shows. Comedy isn't some special way to bypass responsibility. The rhetoric in his jokes is the same as US politicians are using when they strip trans people of rights and accuse us of being sexual predators.

Punching up against those who oppress is always fine as comedy. Making jokes about communities you're a member of is also fine because you understand from personal experience. Punching down against a minority group that is being highly oppressed is not acceptable because all it does is add to the hurt they're experiencing.

And then there's the fact that nobody defending him can even name a single one of his jokes about trans people that are so funny. Probably because they've never argued in good faith. They're not laughing because what he's saying is funny and pointing out the absurd parts of the transgender experience. They're laughing because they agree with his view that transgender people are "weird" and they think that misgendering dead transgender people is acceptable as well.

for the record nobody is criminally prosecuting Dave Chappelle for the things he says on stage, we just think hes an asshole

I didn't really care about Dave's earlier jokes about the transgender community since it wasn't much different from how he's always made jokes about more marginalized groups, and he wasn't being mean spirited about things, but nowadays he's just doing it on purpose to "prove he can't be cancelled" or whatever, knowing it's what's keeping him trending. The jokes aren't even funny, he's just being annoying.

That said, Snoop is just super chill and obviously wouldn't give a fuck about all this drama.
