You had the Pokemon walking around and then some Pokemon hiding in tall grass shown by an exclamation point...

Yeah, I don't understand why they do this shit. Mega-evolution was the perfect idea and they just keep devolving. No pun intended.

Hey now, at least with this new mechanic we may finally have a generation where ice types can consistently be in the meta... because they'd be changed into another type entirely lmfao.

I like the visuals of the crystalization effect, but the chandelier hats are... yeah.

Also the type change thing sounds kind of dumb. I dunno why I'd want to change my Gardevoir's type to water, I'd just use a water pokemon.

See, that's another thing, having an item that would change a Pokemon's type might actually be a fun mechanic, but they attach it to a visual effect that makes them look so much like trash.

I hate megas/gigas/this new mechanic -- and the new legendaries are straight up some of the ugliest Pokemon designs ever with the big wheels.
Otherwise it looks cool.

It does look like trash. Really not a fan of the new artstyle or the ugly school uniforms. The new Legendaries look completely ridiculous.
Aside from certain low quality textures, SwSh still looked great if nothing else.

Okay so like imagine you're using Gardevoir and then the opponent brings out Steelix. Do you get STAB Steel to the fucking face and die while only doing 1/2 STAB damage yourself, or change type to water and be like lmao you can't hurt me

My main takeaway was that the trailer barely showed any new Pokemon, and that the draw distance in the open world looks worse than BotW's, which is a 5yo game.

Other than that, I'm sceptically optimistic. I hope it's at least more fun than gen 8.

Not necessarily with Gardevoir, but say you have a hyper offensive but slow ground/ rock type. Switch it in and forego STAB to get a little better defensive typing and to totally mess with someone about to counter with a water or ice move. Or turn into a grass type to deal with water and grass counters as well as to protect it against other ground types. Etc.

I just need to know if every type is possible for every pokemon or if it's limited. Flying Pikachu for instance seems to only be available by pre order. Is it just the one with that look and fly learned restricted to the event or is it possible to have that Tera type regardless though with a different gem on top and no access to fly?

Also how will this work for breeding? Can we change the type later on? @_@

I change my pokemon, I guess.

Like, I understand this can be used in top levels of play where there's a good chance that the opponent has one of like 7 different pokemon. But for me, just playing the game and maybe dabbling a little in online, this just strikes me as another layer of RNG you have to go through to get a pokemon that you feel good about rather than "it's viable for standard gameplay I guess, but boy is it shit."

I think they're cute but I do think the hats are gonna look absurd on most things. "Yes, a ferocious sparkling aerodactyl with um... a water sprinkler on its head..."

Will be memetastic for things like Goomy or Pincurchin or Falinks.

Legends Arceus had the literal worst trailers ever, then it turned out to be the best Pokemon game in ages.

Each pokemon will have a Tera type. The odds of a specific one will hopefully be divided as 1/(whatever types are possible).
Shinies, you know about those. 1/4000 chances of one, roughly. Can be improved but I think it still caps at like 1/800 with all possible boosts in gen 8.
Sinistea is a teacup pokemon who has two forms. One has a stamp making it an authentic/ antique one. The rest don't. Most don't have that stamp. Mechanically the only difference is which item is used to evolve them I think? And the marking on the bottom of them being there or not.
Stickers are a thing that can spawn with a wild caught Pokemon in gen 8. Doesn't have any mechanical purpose but does raise the collectibility of them. They're pretty uncommon though.

So basically, it will be a tremendous grind.

I'm not feeling the transformers legendary dragons. I don't like that they're vehicles and have wheels attached to their bodies. I probably would accept it better if they were steel types, but it's still stupid.

I feel like the more they show me the less impressed I become.

Open world looks like a lot of rolling hills with Pokemon that just pop into existence without any cool points of interest. Crystalizing is just another mega/z-move/dynamax gimmick that's going to be here for one generation and then trashed.

The legendaries look stupid and it sucks that we'll be forced to use them when the previous games have already given us the ability to ride much cooler Pokemon. >_>

"Treasure Hunt"...they need to show more, but knowing Pokemon, I'm worried it's going to be stock standard RPG loot grinding. But if it involved dungeon-diving or fighting rare pokemon with the "treasure" being useful stuff like TMs, battle items, etc, it could be fun.

Just remember the trailers are designed for their target audience which is ages 6 to 14, with a primary target of 6 to 11.

It tells me that it's a fully realised vision of what Legends Arceus began, and it's going to be a full BotW-like open world adventure in a brand new region.

It doesn't tell me the state of the Pokedex, the nature of the combat or the vibe of the game. All I know is that you have motorbike Pokemon who can climb mountains, cross the sea and fly, and that you're a schoolkid getting a Pokemon from an academy. It also confirms a new context-dependent battle mechanic and more exclusive region variants, as have been standard since Gens 6 and 7 respectively.

There's a solid look at how varied the region areas are, like a mud plains area and a snow area, and there are glimpses of the scope of the open world. It's not going to break the open world adventure game model wide open like BotW, it's clearly in the camp of "imitator" rather than "trail-blazer", but it looks nice. With any luck, it'll be more of a step forward than SwSh were and won't be held back as much.

But there's also the fact that Game Freak have been working on mainline Pokemon games and the Let's Go/Legends Arceus spinoffs since the Switch launched. People are worried about the working conditions at Game Freak, and if they can create a truly great Pokemon adventure within 9 months of releasing their most recent Pokemon game with Legends Arceus.

So what I'm getting from this trailer is that it looks alright, but it's not going to blaze any trails and its position in the Pokemon franchise's release line-up is somewhat worrying. As it stands, I could take it or leave it, but I would definitely need to see another trailer closer to the game's release to really make up my mind about it.

This is a weird thought process for these video game companies. When Pokemon first came out the people that were playing were that target audience. As the franchise grew more popular they retained the same original age group, but that age group got older too. The majority of people playing Pokemon today are the ones that grew up with it. You want the younger audience to still bring in sales of course, but the target shouldnt be strictly for 6 year olds.

I think it looks fantastic. Im gonna go with Violet version.

It's kind of funny that we're finally getting the Pokemon games we've always wanted and all its doing is revealing how dated the tech they're being run on actually is.

Of course it doesn't help that it seems like GF is completely incapable of optimizing their shit.

nope. you don't get to blame the hardware for these games looking like complete shit when there are so many titles on switch that look so much better. these games aren't even up to the gamecube standard.
