I read that the first room in Gravemind bizarrely might be easier in this than regular Legendary because you can instantly get overshields by meleeing the Grunt right next to Chief at the start thanks to the Black Eye skull. At the very least, that isn't the part in Gravemind that was the major roadblock. It was the prison skip apparently.

That doesn't make it easy, it just means that the runners can consistently survive the first few seconds of the level. The room is still insanely hard.

That's true. I guess it's not really easier than normal Legendary since the average player is going to have a hard time regardless.

That room was a really strange one for me. The first time I played on Legendary it was co-op. My friend and I spent like an hour trying to get out of that room and we died a boatload of times. When I played through Legendary alone later on I only died a few times.

High Charity skip seemed a bit odd... any reason to skip it when it's such a short level? I imagine it would take less time learning a more traditional route through the level than spending many hours learning HC skip.

I also understand not allowing Envy, but couldn't it be argued that Sputnik is a "helpful" skull?

And here I am replaying it on heroic dying to my own nades

This game falls in those weird categories of "games I'm highly nostalgic for but I never really liked it"
Even on heroic the gameplay is kind of all over the place and I get weird deaths. Halo 2 in general overall as a product has always felt "off" to me just in terms of weapon balance too, like they didn't really think the dual wielding through all the way and certain combos like dual plasma rifles are insane vs dual wielding something like smgs.

There's a lot of smoke and mirrors in the beginning to trick you into thinking it's a good game and I think thats why I have heavy nostalgia for it

I know it's probably a necessary evil to beat Halo 2 LASO without deaths, but doing it in a way that feels so far removed from the way the game was designed to be played (is, skipping whole sections through tricks and glitches) just feels wrong to me

Halo 2 has a crazy development history, they basically had to ditch most of the game less than a year before launch and rebuild everything so IIRC that's why the higher difficulties are stupidly imbalanced, they didn't actually have time to fine-tune things lol

Halo 2 Legendary is so absurdly unfair that I'd say anything goes.

I like that for H2A they actually finished geometry in a lot (maybe all, havent seen everything in anniversary mode) of the places you can use to skip. Like the rooftops to avoid jackal alley in Outskirts, a lot of it is just flat and even see-through in classic mode but they actually filled in the buildings in anniversary mode

Halo 2 on Legendary itself is a feat to accomplish (have done it both solo and in split screen).

I mean I watched the final level and he literally deloads 75%+ of the enemies through glitches so barely has to get into any combat. I guess props to him for remembering all these tricks and applying them on a single run. but it's not playing halo at that point lol
