Saying they "have to " is an overstatement. Professional NBA players make considerably more because consumers (men and women) believe NBA players are considerably more entertaining and worth higher ticket prices. Why? Ask them. Plenty of social media content with women stating why they're big fans of men's professional basketball, but not as interested in the women's league. One way for WNBA players to get paid more for performance is convince more women to support the sports league as consumers. Good luck with that. Female sports addicts have existed for decades, yet they have a higher tendency to watch male professional sports instead. And they'll tell you why. No hate on Griner for chasing green where she can get it, but any claims of a seasoned WNBA player being entitled to the same pay as seasoned NBA players while bringing in a fraction of the ticket sales are ridiculous and pure grift.
