If anything dating apps give the user a false sense of ease in dating, where it's literally the flick of the wrist to get a new option. maybe they get settled into that false sense, and when the normal amount of effort presents itself, it looks momentous by comparison?

agreed, imo the hottest ppl all have genuine passions

so pick a few passions and have fun

I'd be a virgin without dating apps. They've helped me a lot. I will never feel comfortable approaching a stranger at a bar.

Dating apps work for some people. They've never worked for me. I don't like the impersonalized resume style and people are never what they appear to be from their profiles, so I myself personally just like meeting people in person

Every time I have tried to get laid online I have. But I honestly despise the culture around it so have stuck to just irl dating like it should be

I met my wife on a dating app.

I've gone from 0 dates in 6 years to a dozen in the last five months because of apps. It's really helped me recognize what I'm capable of, in a positive way.

I thankfully got hitched prior to the dating app boom, as it seems like just rapid fire rejection, and I don't know if my young (at the time) psyche could've handled all that rejection.

It's pretty easy to not take it that personally before you've met someone. Girls using hinge often for example probably have dozens of dudes blowing up their inbox each week

In that context it doesn't really hurt my self esteem, it's not like they really know much about me beyond a few photos

I don't get why people use this comparison. Yeah obviously girls have dozens of guys in their DMs. I guarantee you the same can't be said for any guy regardless of his looks/personality.

Because everyone else does. You can't avoid it if you are trying to date in modern times and it's really not that bad as long as you are honest and don't have some weird fucking profile with paragraphs of exposition

It's worked well for me so far. I've had more dates in 3 months of online dating than I had in 3 years of trying in person.

i use them b/c i am absolutely terrible at approaching women IRL and hitting on them / picking them up. but i guess i'm also objectively terrible at online dating, too, since i've only had one match go past the first date in like a decade of trying, so .....

This doesn't end well in my experience. You just end up with egg on your face, stay away for 6 months to dispell any fear of 'creeper' vibes, and then pretend like you don't know each other.

As for online apps.....i dunno, i had virtually no response. Perhaps it's because I almost exclusively went for asian women....

Only when I'm horny or bored. I re downloaded it last week and got 2 dates out of it, I'm going out tonight to meet one also and I'm over 30 and don't drive.

this, too. i dont drink, so i don't spend time at bars or clubs or anything where people "expect" to get hit on. and i feel absolutely out of place and uncomfortable to do something like hit on a chick at someplace like the grocery store.

I pull way more on apps than in person. Most of my fwbs probably never would have even talked to me if we met randomly in person first.

I had tons of luck in my 20s with them. Haven't used them much since. It's a lot easier to make an opening line if you know they're single and looking. But there's also 1000 other dudes doing the same thing so it's a numbers game for sure. Avoid Tinder, use the other ones. Tinder is just trashy sex addicts
