So imagine a game you see a little bit of information about that looks cool and that you might like it but you're not overly hyped for. Do you think it would be better if it was released as a free to play game with microtransactions (the typical ones, like gacha mechanics or a battle pass)?

Most people don't like FTP style games, but do you think you'd be more willing to try a game that was FTP compared to a game that was sold normally if it wasn't a "must play" game to you?

FtP with microtransactions.

Otherwise I'm absolutely not getting the one I have to buy.

For a big multiplayer game, it being free and reliant on skins and such is fine. It's a lot easier to try something out with friends if it's free.

For a single-player game, free to play is the worst and I do my best to avoid them

I tend (mostly subconsciously) towards F2P on my phone and traditional on consoles and computer.

Weird question. On it's face, the answer would be no. I'm mildly interested in Disco Elysium, but if you made that as a live service game with battle passes, it would be a fundamentally different game.

Although if a game is designed around those things, like Destiny, it should be free to play. Paying full price on top of that is dumb.

Yeah F2P is fine if it's just a little time waster type of game, but for AAA games I'd rather just pay for since their microtransactions are likely more predatory.

I'd like it to be on sale for $10, which is sort of how I use my Steam wishlist

I liked F2P for Genshin. Never would've tried it if it wasn't. But for most games F2P prob turns me off more than anything. I don't mind paying a bit to try a game and maybe returning it (or just eating the cost, whatever).

I don't even know anymore. I actually play a bunch of F2P multiplayer games, but for the ones I DO play I've spent way more than $60 on skins and stuff, so...yeah.

The one F2P game I really play is Brawlhalla, and that's just because the monetization is exclusively for cosmetics
