Honestly modkills need to be used less, the standard on other sites is just replacing people out and telling them to go away.

But also being aggressive is a fine line and it isn't set by everyone else. Honestly this isn't an issue that needs to be policed much more, especially since I have yet to see any real case of sexism/racism in a long time here.

Self-policing is totally ok tbh. if someone says something, just tell them to stop in topic and if they don't they get replaced when it comes to over aggression. No need to hand out the super bans right away.

Like I said our community is mostly alright, and if it's really bothering you I would say that mafia probably isn't for you as it doesn't get too much better unless its very casual. Which is no great insult mafia is a really weird hobby to have even though I obviously love it.

If you are going to bring up your own mental health in the game and use it as a crutch then it's fair play in the game.

That's a pretty popular opinion in the wide world of mafia. Bringing up mental health issues in a game of cunning and deception is just uncomfortable for everyone.

It's one thing to go 'I am not feeling great, so I am going to be more sluggish this game' and another to bring up certain things in key moments.

Yeah replacing them out would work too punishing their team for them being an ass isnt nessisarily fair.

Right but generally if it is that bad or they use it "as a crutch" the moderator should just be like hey im replacing you out worry about you not the game

The irony of Crescent's rant is she tries to relate with Lea not wanting to play when in the Ulti/Lea interaction she's the Ulti, not me, and Lea basically said as much in the topic.

100% that's the policy we need, yes. Hosts have to do a better job of checking in if at all possible. Unlike dedicated sites that you guys don't want to use there are no moderators exclusively for games here.

Sure but right now we aren't playing a game and one is ready with a complete list of participants. I appreciate us being better than other sites but we can be better than this.

Well, how though? What would you suggest. 'We can be better' and 'we have a community with humans who have emotions and fluctuating moods and different methods' is not quite easy to marry.

If I could perfectly control people I would of course just do that, but in practice that's kind of the rub.

To be fair I have decided I am done playing here and am just going to host a few times a year, so in a sense how everyone wants to play or try to enforce rules isn't a personal problem for me other than me caring about the health of the community. I just don't want people wasting their own time on dead end solutions, but ultimately it is not my choice.

It's like Mafia but instead the Town all has a codeword and Mafia does not.

At the top of the game, everyone submits a hint that is supposed to point towards the codeword without giving it away. Then people vote someone out that they think is a ghost.

At night, ghosts get a chance to guess the word. If they get it, they win. Otherwise, town learns the guess and the game continues.

That's a pretty cool game concept with a similar premise and less social wackiness. I should play that sometime lol

I don't even think this community is sexist. I have seen a lot of blanket attacks for someone being sexist but it's never pointed out what was actually the issue.

I feel we need a 0 tolerance policy for some things.
1. Sexisum
2. Racism (havent seen it but still not a good look)
3. Insulting mental health
4. Telling people to kill themselves or anything like that.
5. Being an over aggressive dick/Bullying

If it happens 1 time modkill
Happens a 2nd time a year ban
Happens a 3rd time lifetime ban.

Set this as the standard to show this is a welcoming community. These are not things that should be said and set as rules but, these are the things that scare people away, reasons why people don't come back ect.

What do you do about false claims of sexism and bullying?

Yeah, but the game goes quick enough that it's not too big a deal when that happens.

Also, the host can just suggest they give a new hint

I have seem slightly sexist remarks in a game twords Crescent i do not remember who said it or I could call them out but they told her

"Shut up the men are talking"

If you dontnthink that is sexist then reevaluate that

I should play diplomacy again.

I won my second major game ever, even had an article written about my win and never played again.

It was just so exhausting.

I didn't see anyone say anything like that in any games with Crescent (haven't seen all of them but have seen her explode on me, Corrik, and Scare for dumb stuff with no specific sexist comments identified) and I'll say that not only do I think I was being very reasonable to her and keeping every bit of pressure applied on an in game level but that I was also entirely gender neutral about it (this is not difficult, if I was anything resembling misogynist I would not have my job as like 80% of my clients are women) and she still used that card which implies to me it's a defense mechanism more than any sort of reality.

That's not an accusation I take lightly and it makes me want to avoid interacting with her to avoid it, so I don't really want to play with her because what if I need to interact in the game. Needing to play with total kiddie gloves or avoid lest you be accused of something vile is not a fun game.

i played a few games of diplomacy back in high school which were like 6-8 hour marathons. eventually people were getting IRL upset about stuff happening in the game though and we had to stop.

but thinking about it now really just exhausts me. either an 8 hour game in person or a slower online 4-8 week version both sound much too daunting, especially if i'm not personally invested in the other players playing (that's like 50-75% of the fun of board games after all!)

The problem with Crescent's play is that it is illogical, so it naturally brings about suspicion. It's sort of like Ulti's play or WAIT FOR IT.. DREAMGODDESS1's play (the obsession continues).

Someone can only tell you what this is before you experience it actually in game.

Okay so there are 7 people left. Here is how I feel about them.

Corrik 90% scum, 84% town
Suprak 74% scum, 10% town
Chris 66% scum, 59% town
IGCD 62% scum, 15% town
Kirby 44% scum, 95% town
Ben 22% scum, 25% town

Thus, Corrik, Suprak and Chris are the last scum. TRUST ME.

So Corrik is definitely scum, Suprak is almost assuredly scum, and Chris is likely scum. However, Chris is likely scum in a vacuum, but if Corrik is indeed scum than IGCD is likely also scum because they are likely scummates, and thus Chris wouldn't be scum. Suprak would still be scum, but if not then Ben could be scum. If Chris and Kirby are scum together, then Corrik would be town, but this doesn't absolve IGCD or Suprak. However, Ben seems good to me.

If you say me, I can assure you that the only way I would have said something like that would be "Let the big boys figure things out, while you go back to whatever nonsense you are doing"... and big boys would have absolutely zero to do with sexism in my mind process.
