One AMP from an account in 2011. That being said, not really. My department is pretty friendly towards making a change toward it. We have a team dedicated solely to that that works directly with the city and county resources. They focus on rehab, providing jobs, housing. Ive gone with them several times and almost joined them. But recently got promoted and will not be doing patrol work anymore

I would much rather buy a homeless person McDonalds or something than give them cash, but then again, I couldnt care less about the panhandlers, hell, if theyre trying to get my attention at a red light when its blatant Im ignoring them, I flip them off.

So by this logic, the key to surviving utter disaster in life is to have wealthy relatives you can mooch off of? My God! What if the poor people get wind of this amazing life plan you have? Seriously though, aren't you a staunch conservative? How is having your relatives make your problems go away any different than having strong social programs provided by the government that would protect everyone? Or is it different because it's you and you feel you're entitled to something special because you are special?

Ive been thinking of keeping a bundle of water bottles and snacks that I can give out instead of money. Anyone else do that? What was the reaction?

One time I had someone ask for some money for some Burger King while getting back into my car. I offered to buy them some food at the store I was at and handed them some water bottles but it was some choosing beggar kind of deal and that really soured the charity for me...

If they pretend it's for food or a bus and I know the one in question is gonna spend it on drugs / alcohol, I won't give them anything. In the odd case where they've straight up said "I need some money for my beer" or whatever, I give them it.

Not conservative, registered blue and voted for Bernie in 2016, and biden in 2020. But I do work directly with homeless people every day so I see the reality of it first hand. And I grew up with nothing with immigrant parents. My bedroom was a closet. We worked our asses off to get where we are
