They're saying 4.5% for 60mos with a $500 rebate attached, I'm asking for 3% cause I got approved for a 2.9% loan. He said I could refinance in 3 months, I said is that in writing, he said it's probably in the contract but it might not be too.

He also faked a phone call in front of me to his manager, I could tell

If the deal is good enough I'll do it but feels sus

This is the way to go. Also, ask for floor mats or something since you're getting cucked on your interest rate.

You're the guy that asked about refinancing before right? Don't worry about what % the dealer offers. That won't matter once you refinance with the bank that offered 2.9%. Just try to avoid agreeing to anything that marks up the total cost of the car. "We can lower your monthly payments if you agree to this 'deal' that adds another $4,000 to the total loan" will just hurt you in the long run.

You're paying it off early anyway so the 1.6% difference won't have a huge effect.

refinancing isn't typically free fyi

fake it right back with him. bring a piece of paper with fake prices on it from dealerships you've already "visited" and ask him if that's the best he can do. if he says yes tell him you'll be on your way.

if he faked a call, have a friend call you, say "oh yea? wow that is a great offer! Amazing!"

then say you got a good deal at 2.5% and tell him to beat it

He's lying because most banks don't care when or if you refi. The whole "3 months" crap is so dealers get extra money from the bank in the form of rebates.

I always just get the dealership loan and call my credit union the next day and hop on that sweet low interest.

They wanted 15% APR...turn around and got 3% at the credit union, suck ass carmax

Yeah, unless you've just got a particularly shitty 'buy here, pay here' credit thing, there shouldn't be a reason you can't refinance whenever, unless you're trying to refinance with the same loan provider (idk why you would, if it's even possible)
