My worst experience was a near 24 hour layover, flights are horribly inconsistent. Sorry that happened, hope you can get on something else soon for about the same price.

I went to Mexico the past week, so during the same week flights all over the east cost were being delayed or cancelled but I was from the West Coast, and Tijuana was being rioted on the other side of Mexico when I was on the flipside.

isn't it because airlines cut a bunch of jobs during the height of covid so now they're only slowly rehiring and can't staff all the areas?

Yeah. Airline companies got billions from the government in part to keep up their staffing levels when very few people were flying, but they laid people off any way.

Flights have been getting canceled consistently for about 3 years now, its the new normal.

Now that the pandemic reasoning for it is starting to wear off its not like people can just choose to drive instead with the gas prices we have, even if they had the time.

And I immediately want to go back home.

There's this issue in my country's budget airline service right now where you can purchase tickets for half the price if you paid for them a few months earlier, only for the airline to delay your flight to an unreasonable hour a could of days before departure while freeing up your original seat to be resold at full (or higher) price again.
