Many years ago I had shaving cream on my face, but for some reason I had to step outside, where my dog was. She started going towards me, but stopped/hesitated for a second when she saw me.
I wonder if she saw the foam on my face and got scared because she thought I had rabies.
Is this possible, or a thing? Do animals recognize and avoid others that might get them terminally ill?

There's no "would of", "should of" or "could of".
It's "would've", "should've" and "could've".

I mean, it could be an evolutionary thing: Animals that avoid foaming mouths avoid getting rabies, get a chance to reproduce, and pass their foam-fearing genes to their offspring. Those who don't care get bitten, get rabies and die before they have babies.

I don't see why they wouldn't. I think I remember reading somewhere in a book that some animals will avoid sick and contagious members of their group.
