Windwaker is a 6/10 game with a handful of 10/10 segments. A direct sequel has a lot of potential but I don't trust 00's Nintendo to pull it off. Main issue is that the sailing mechanic is inherently one that tells the player "go! explore the big blue world!", but you're railroaded into a largely linear progression anyway since all the items required to explore are either stuck in main dungeons or arbitrarily story-gated. (Why can we not just grab the fire/ice arrows whenever the hell we want? What would that break? Stupid fucking fairies >_>) Post-BotW Nintendo seems to have gotten the stick out of its ass when it comes to player agency so it would probably be good these days. But for its time? Nah, TP was the right call. --- Lusa Cfaad Taydr ... Copied to Clipboard!

Fight me.My first time playing it was the HD collection with the "fixes" and time saves in place (like the swift sail, which I acquired as soon as possible) and it still felt like a chore to play. There are lots of problems with its design and pacing. What I dislike about Twilight Princess is how it feels like a dungeon rush with nothing interesting in-between. Meanwhile Breath of the Wild and Wind Waker are my two favorites, and it seems like most of the fanbase hates the dungeons in those games. Dungeons are fine enough but I don't want to spend the whole game either in one or running straight to the next one. --- http://i.imgur.com/WWk7D.jpg http://i.imgur.com/hE7v5GL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/sY9YLKe.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9e67vqt.jpg ... Clearly, BotW took some of its formula from Wind Waker, which is probably why I didn't really care for WW or BotW much. The OOT/TP style is definitely more my preference. A large-enough open world that's very dense and filled with dungeons and set pieces, without a ton of wasted space. --- I write Naruto Fanfiction. But I am definitely not a furry. ...
