What was up with all the fear mongering from the left that we'll get packaged internet deals and shit like that? It's been a couple of years since net neutrality went away and everything is still the same.

naw it was mostly from reddit, and had its fair share of alt-right goofs. i distinctly remember a front page meme with like 36k updootz that was the black and white arms slapping hands over it. Captioned "left and right" or whatever.

Good point that it was mostly reddit. I just associate reddit with left, and that's not always a true association.

Cookie warnings are because of some bullshit law from Europe.

I remember saying nothing would change it was just the new big thing to be upset about and people on here called me crazy and made crazier wild assumptions of what would happen. Then literally nothing happened.

Net neutrality had nothing to do with data caps.

Maybe the only reason nothing changed in any obvious way was because people raised awareness

Many states passed their own NN laws in response. Probably the biggest reason nothing really changed, because its supposedly hard for them to implement their BS in only certain parts of the country.

Just because nothing significant has happened yet doesn't mean that nothing won't happen in the future. Or else, why would they even go through the trouble of having it removed?
