It's still speculation at this point, but the evidence is strong.

Rose Ayling-Ellis started following RTD, Ncuti and - most tellingly - the Doctor Who casting director on Insta as soon as she left EastEnders, and she's been saying that she's embargoed from announcing what her new job is yet but that it's something huge and that there's a big announcement due at the end of the month.

I don't watch EastEnders so I can't comment on her acting skills, but this casting seems very much on-point with RTD'S ethos - like how Ncuti will get people invested thanks to his huge online following and popularity with the younger crowd, Rose will definitely get huge press coverage after the Silent Dance went viral last year.

If true, I wonder how long ago she was cast - it's wild to think that when Ncuti Gatwa was on stage at the Baftas being introduced as the new Doctor (and nominated for best actor) the companion was also in the room, winning Best TV moment for the dance (deservedly so, btw).

That would be interesting, she's leaving Sex Education at the same time as Ncuti Gatwa, so it's possible.
