Literally building a sexbot of her to be his fuckslave.

They were just like "Oh, that's kind of sad." and put it in their basement for safe keeping. Then used it to replace her after she died.

I mean how would you feel if someone you hated had a sexbot of you?

That was a great 1.5 months!

Yes Spike tried to rape her

Also Xander once put a spell on her (by accident) to make her throw herself at him, but he turned her down

spike has no soul and hence no real sense of right or wrong
his love with buffy also turned into an obsession so the rape attempt was a reminder that he is not a good person but i wish it hadnt happened.

but speaking of xander i think he was at his most unlikable during the angel/angelus plot stuff
its established very early on that a vampire is not the same person they once where. the demon gets your body but it doesnt get your soul is a line from season 1.

but xander blames angel for everything angelus did just because he was angry buffy liked angel more
that was petty. at least from an emotional standpoint giles anger at angel in season 3 early on was justified from an emotional standpoint rather than a rational one

It was more an indication of just how utterly toxic their relationship was. Spike didn't even realize he was raping Buffy because their entire relationship was built on mutually self-hating violent sex.

Theoretically, Angelus is just Angel without a soul with the evil dialed up. More practically....yeah, they did kinda treat them as two entirely separate people.

Spike EARNED his soul. Wasnt forced on him like a dog collar like they did with Angel. Angel is still bad, he just cant access it. Spike is actually good

Actually yeah fair point.

for the most part i actually liked dawn
i just felt that after season 5 the writers didnt know what to do with her anymore so she gets random plots that dont go anywhere
she overstayed her welcome and should have been sent to live with her dad.

he was awful

Either Hulu, or Netflix, I forgot which one. I tried going through the show again, but gave up part way through the second season. It just aged so badly, imho, especially the fighting.

Dawn sucks

5 seasons in and they introduce "Damsel in distress little sister" who whines and cries and gets kidnapped every 3rd episode.

They didn't even invert the trope or do anything clever.. IT was literally just bad cliche television.

She didn't even have anything to do in Season 7

I grew up watching angel and only saw like, a couple episodes of buffy so missed out on some of his lore

its almost as if she knows hes a vampire that incapable of understanding right from wrong

She shows up in the opening of the first episode

She is in 4 episodes or buffy
The 2 part Introduction to the show
Then she shows up in the episode where we Learn angel is a vampire
Then she shows up in a flashback showing how angel became a vampire in a season 2 episode

She has a much larger role in the show angel

This is a bad take. The Buffy bot was a humorous subplot and Buffy's reaction was appropriate.

Nah they took it off Netflix a few years ago I think. Which is where I watched it the first go round. Ill have to check the other streaming services

I mean, they all seemed cool with him after the bathroom scene as well as Buffy trusting him to watch Dawn. This is also largely ignoring the fact that while Spike can't directly physically hurt them he teams up with Adam to try and kill all of them and works against the group on multiple occasions.

It's clear that the gang has a huge blind spot for this though, they openly welcome the murderer Andrew who, like Spike, has activley tried to kill the group on multiple occasions and, like Spike, has never shown remorse.

i remember when principle wood was shocked the characters kept andrew around as a hostage and he referred to himself as more of a guestage

And Giles was still able to work with him when it needed to be done. Xander was toxic for almost the entire series lol

xander is my least favorite
i used to like him but everytime i rewatch the series i find him worse and worse

he still has his good moments though but so does everyone
even kennedy wasnt intolerable all the time. just most of the time

I think he was also just genuinely prejudiced towards vampires though. One of the flaws in the show is that it didn't make a bigger deal about Jesse, Willow and Xander's lifelong childhood friend that most people probably don't even remember. In theory, Jesse should have been as important as Willow to Xander. It would make sense that Xander vociferously hates vampires because they killed him.

To be fair to Xander, he hated Spike well before he spanked Buffy up and down the garden path

xander appears in every episode of buffy except 1
so only buffy and willow appear in every single episode of the show

xander was planned to be in the episode he missed out on though and it actually went back to the jessie character.
see there were a couple of plans with jessie that never happened

originally joss whedon wanted jessie in the opening credits for the first 2 episodes so it would be a shock to fans when he died. but this idea was nixed cause they would need to pay editors for 2 different opening credit scenes and they werent willing to do that.
this idea was later used in season 6 when they added amber benson to the opening credits for the episode her character died in. though her character tara was basically a series regular in spirit just not in pay cheque. she appeared in nearly every episode of seasons 4 5 and 6 and even got an episode centered around her.

anyway the episode that xander missed was the one where the first evil appears to characters as deceased characters for the first time and tries to manipulate them.
well xander was supposed to be in the episode and the first would have appeared to him as jessie
i dont remember why this plan was scrapped.
but i do know they wanted amber benson to come back for this episode and have the first take on her form to hurt and manipulate willow and amber benson refused because she felt it was to cruel to willow and disrespectful to her characters fans.

there actually were plans to revive tara in the final season but they fell through due to scheduling conflicts
