There's a fewthings I wanted to talk about. But i will start with this question. How much do you have to dedicate to yourself to a certain group?

The other day, I saw a black women stating that all white allies should buy a ticket to black panther and give it to a poor black child who can't afford it. Which sounds cool. Then she goes on and say that the allies have to stand outside and protect them from harm and they can see the movie next week. What is that? This sounds like you want a servant more than a supporter.

The next one is about Hogwarts Legacy. I don't understand how buying this game means you side with JK. I mean I will buy the game but I am not going to all of a sudden follow her on Instagram. And I am not going to start voting for anti trans laws.

Also, why are there people mad when someone is apolitical. Most people are ignorant when it comes to politics and identity politics. Let them be real.

I don't like to follow anyone political on anything. I use social media to catch up with family and friends, get gaming news, follow a niche gaming group. That's it really.

Just do what you want dude, nobody really fucking cares. Those that speak the loudest are usually the last people you want to worry about appeasing.

This is the only part of the post I'm going to take seriously. The reason people get upset over that is indifference benefits the oppressor. I'll use a hamfisted example because it's the easiest way to get a point across. Indifferent Germans benefitted the Nazis. Their indifference did nothing to stop the Nazis from exterminating the jews and did nothing to help the Jews being exterminated.

As to the previous parts of your OP, people don't get to dictate to you how your allyship works. I donated money to a charity dedicated to black youth who took kids to see the movie.

The Harry Potter thing, I don't know. It depends on how the licensing for the game works. It's likely that Rowling already got her money when she sold the rights to the producers of the game. Now you could argue that boycotting this game and making it do poorly means she'll get less money next time they decide to buy the rights from her.

Will I buy it? Probably not. I'm not going to shit on somone who does though. Life can be hard and miserable and shitty at times and if someone finds joy in a world that happens to be a created by a lady who turned out to be a bigot, let them. It's that persons own actions and beliefs that are important, not the creator of the world of a video game they are playing.

Anyone who speaks like that is definitely just a horrible person using political activism as a springboard to feel superior to others. Luckily, they're not a majority, but it does sadly hurt the image of activism when they're a loud minority.
