I really like every single one of them.

I didn't like every single one but it was easily the best "gimmick" of any gen and should've been made permanent

Why didn't you like any??

Should have kept it in. Gave new life to Pokemon that were underused. Could have given more mega evolutions to other less used Pokes.

Only really dumb thing is that the Gen 6 starters, you know the starters of the game that introduced Mega evolutions, didn't get them.

But Charizard got two.

Mega suck. Thankfully they shelved it.

I wish it were still around. It was the best gimmick of the ones we've gotten, and I have two awesome shiny Charizards for both the X and Y Mega Evolution. I never really liked Z-Moves or Gigantamax.

Those 2 mega stones are free in ultra sun and ultra moon.

They came up with the best version of the gimmick on their first try, so of course they threw it in the trash like the RSS and came up with worse gimmicks.

Also I love how all the dex entires talk about how much strain it puts Pokemon under, but Pinsir is just psyched it can fly.

extremely good, should have stuck around. cool both mechanically and from a design perspective (although a few of them look sorta lame)

I like not evolving some of my pokemon and megas just increase the power gap between non evolved pokemon and fully evolved ones

Mega Pinsir is wholesome.

I swear though Sun and Moon seemed like it wanted to turn people off from Mega evolutions with their Pokedex entries.

In X and Y, Mega evolution is described as something achieved by having a strong bond. Power of friendship, etc.

Yet in gen 7...

Lucario

It readies itself to face its enemies by focusing its mental energies. Its fighting style can be summed up in a single word: heartless.

Salamence

Mega Evolution fuels its brutality, and it may even turn on the Trainer who raised it. It's been dubbed "the blood-soaked crescent."

Metagross

Its intellect surpasses its previous level, resulting in battles so cruel, they'll make you want to cover your eyes.

Why do these entries sound less like strengthening the bonds of Pokemon, and more like Shadow Pokemon?

Megas were great but they should have never been given to legendaries/pseudos

Mega evolution, pokemon changes and gets stronger
Z-moves, pokemon fires off a stronger attack
Dynamax/Gigantamax, Pokemon grows giant and sometimes changes shape
Terraization, pokemon gains a crystal like layer covering their body along with a hat like structure showcasing their type that may or may not be their usual types

Pokemon are vast mysterious creatures, that cannot be denied but still, it makes you wonder some things, Mega evolution, Z-moves are both phenomena that occur only in pokemon bonded with trainers where as Dynamax and Terriation are phenomena that occur in wild pokemon when exposed to outside sources why is that? It reminds me of how normal evolution methods tend to go with things such as evolution via friendship, trading, trading while holding specific items and

U know about regigigas from pokemon legends arceus?

Never played that gen - but I felt like the idea was stupid. They gave them to some already good Pokemon, which was dumb. Having to take up an item slot was dumb, too. Plus most of them are ugly. I think it's cool that they gave Heracross and Pinsir something - but just a whole new evolution or something would be cooler.

The only pokemon to keep it's ability in a game where they removed abilities, even weirder, it's not as huge as it's suppose to be in that game either, alpha pokemon are bigger than it

And then gamefreak trolls everyone by giving Rayquaza a mega and can hold an item at the same time.

It went to a bunch of the wrong Pokemon. Didn't Garchomp and Salamence get kicked up to Ubers a few years ago? Why are you making them stronger? There's a whole lot of Pokemon that never got a look in that could have used one. I look at the current lineup and think What, too scared to go all the way and make Mega Skarm/Bliss? Mega Electivire? Mega Snorlax?

The Charizard bias was as lame as ever.

interesting how Mega Mewtwo X hasn't ever been shown in animated form ever. where as Y got a movie, a weird movie where it could mega evolve at will no stone or trainer needed and it was a girl Mewtwo

I have no opinion since I haven't played Pokemon since B/W.

Some of the designs are goofy like manectric and slowbro, but it's fun seeing pokeymans that are just the same thing but dialed up to 11. And some are really cool like absol and houndoom.

Agreed that it woulda been cool to see more megas for underprivileged and single-evo pokeymans. Dunsparce, shuckle, shedinja, smeargle, etc. Did salamence and garbagechomp really need more power?

Seems about right based on my own as well. Although I don't recall Charizard Y, or Alakazam being meta. And Mega latia twins wasnt better then just giving them a life orb, and I think mega garchomp wasnt unsuable since i dont believe spd ia effected the turn mega evolution occurs.

i hated mega evolutions at first, but it grew on me and i liked the idea. outside of mega kangaskhan and a couple others, none of them were overly broken and the concept of mega evolutions was not too busted. after all, you had to carry a mega stone, and you could only have one mega pokemon. so there was some strategy on who you should make your mega. as long as a mega stone is required and you can only have ONE mega pokemon per team, it's not overly broken.

this is why i do not like mega rayquaza. they should not have made a mega pokemon that doesn't need a mega stone. this is not consistent with the other mega evolutions, and one of the things that kept mega pokemon balanced was the requirement to carry a mega stone. a mega pokemon with the ability to carry a choice item, life orb, leftovers or any boosting item is way too OP.

medicham and manectric were good as well. mega medicham was busted af i don't care what anyone says

Gardevoir might be my favorite of the mega evolutions so it hurt seeing it job so badly to Leon a couple weeks ago

Spoilers.

But not really because we all knew they had to stroke Leon even more than they've already have. Surprised he doesn't have a Lucario.

IIRC, even Mega Pidgeot LOL No Guard Hurricane SLAPS and Mega Beedrill had niches, hampered though they are by the base Pokemon being utter trash who would die from a stiff breeze (literally, in Beedrill's case).

Also, it might not be good, but Mega Ampharos is fabulous and I love them.

It's the best of the battle gimmicks and I like a lot of the mega evolution designs. Lore-wise though, it's kind of horrifying how a lot of the Pokedex entries mention the Pokemon being in a lot of pain upon mega-evolving.

The favoritism towards Mega Mewtwo Y always annoyed me. In addition to the anime/movie appearances, it's also Mewtwo's final smash in Smash Bros 4/Ultimate. But Mega Mewtwo X got nothing,

Dope concept then they went and gave a few pokemon 2 or gave them to some pokemon who absolutely did not need them

I love them. Espesh mega slowbro and mawhile

Never cared for it ,rather have permanent stat changes/ability changes/move changes for pokemon that actually need it.

Peak Pokemon. Best gimmick in a long while and the best one since it's introduction

It sucks that they dropped it, just like when Gamefreak drops every other great idea
