On the Male side. It is Krillin(Dragon Ball series) all the way. He has always been my favorite character of any anime. Like dude just tries so hard, knowing he is out classed by everyone even children. But dangit he hangs in there.

On the female side..Aisha Clan-Clan(outlaw Star). Love her personality. She isn't a push over and at the same time she is not horribly abusive like Revy, and host of others. It doesn't hurt that is brown catgirl. LOL

Male: Vash the Stampede
Female: IDK, maybe Lina Inverse

male - Harry McDowell from Gungrave.

super charismatic character.

female - Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex & 2nd Gig .

probably the most calm, collected, capable badass in anime, regardless of gender.

Ranma

Female : lum invader

Male : gintoki

Favorite anime guy might be Togusa from Ghost in the Shell. I tend to have a soft spot for the badass normals, and he's a family man at heart who loves his kids. The whole cast is great but I've always been a bit biased towards him.

Favorite anime girl is probably...Misaka Mikoto? I don't really know why but something about her just clicks with me.

Male-Garcher

Female-Saber. Badass with impeccable character

For male characters, mine would be either Gene Starwind from Outlaw Star or Toua Tokuchi from One Outs. Gene is the perfect balance of happy-go-lucky protagonist and competent badass, and Toua is the perfect balance of lovable underdog and smug shit-talking asshole. They're both really entertaining to watch and have great character dynamics with everyone around them. I can't decide which one is my favorite, it's just too close to call.

For female characters (and out of all anime characters overall) my favorite is Nana Daiba from Revue Starlight. I love her cheery, outgoing, "gentle giant" personality and how much she cares about all of her friends' happiness, but her own personal issues and how they sometimes conflict with the other girls (and her own goals) make her such a deep and interesting character. What she brought to Revue Starlight's story (I won't go into specifics because spoilers, just go watch the show because it's amazing) is one of the biggest factors that took it from a great anime to an absolute masterpiece and my favorite anime of all time.

I don't watch that much anime, only seen a few, but if I had to answer.

Male: Vegeta from the Dragonball franchise.

Female: Revy from Black Lagoon.

Guts (Berserk)
Seras Victoria (Hellsing)

They probably dont count, but the Admirals Rick and Lisa Hunter.

Male: Shanks from One Piece
Female: Satsuki from Kill la kill

Favorite woman character is Ayumi from Honey and Clover. But ah, fuck, Tuesday from Carol and Tuesday is who I aspire to be one day. And Papika from Flip Flappers. Ruka from Steins;Gate too. Fumi from Aoi Hana. Chihaya from Chihayafuru.

So many good women, can't just pick one.

Favorite man. I don't know hmm. Sentarou and Kaoru in Kids on the Slope have basically the best friendship between two men in any media I've seen. Maybe them.

Maybe Takemoto from Honey and Clover or Rei from 3-Gatsu

Male - Lupin III
Female - B-Ko

I don't really watch any modern anime.
