Always liked fly-Baxters design. The toy was always one of my favorites too.

Weirdly I don't have a lot of memories of watching the show as a young kid despite watching it religiously. The video games are much more vivid to me, I mostly know Stockman from his bossfights. Funny enough I do remember one bug-related transformation pretty vividly though, some superhero friend of Mikey. (Also remember gold turtle robots, and that big indestructible robot with an achilles heel)

But on rewatch 80s Stockman kinda got the raw end of the deal. He never struck me as overtly evil, just a stooge whose fate was disproportionate to his crime.

Same thing happens to 03 Stockman. He's just a lab tech/supplier but he endures some of the most evil body horror torture ever willing inflicted on someone in a kids show, and it's usually played as a joke too. <_<

This topic got me in the mood to watch some classic TMNT. It isnt on any streaming services (except for stuff like Prime, at an additional cost).

But apparently the entire 10 season series (DVD) is on sale for just $25 on Amazon.

I'm honestly a bit shocked at how strong a lot of the comedy writing is. It sort of hits that 60s Batman sweet spot where the kids can take it seriously and the adults can laugh at it.

A lot of people don't like how silly it got, but I still have a lot of fond memories of it myself. Particularly Baxter's power play in the Eye of Sarnath arc which mostly got cut out of that montage, I see. He ends up trying to use that machine he created there to harness the power of the gem himself and nearly succeeds in taking out Shredder and the Turtles... Let's be honest, Shredder didn't punish him for that one immediately but it's definitely why he had him sent to Krang.

I felt that way playing Shredder's Revenge. It was my favorite cartoon pre-kindergarten, but playing through the game, I barely remember most of the characters

probably because a number of the bosses are from the games, not the cartoons.

Had to look it up and it seems that all the bosses were in the cartoon at some point. They must've dug deep for these guys those because some of them only appeared like, one time lol. The video game lady showed up in her debut episode and one other time in some villain team up.

Even the tricertons were in the 80's show at one point apparently, which is weird cause I don't remember them at all. >___>

There were a lot of one-shot bad guys from that show. I think it was because of how popular the toys were tbh.I used to collect the action figures and I had a shitload of them. Every weekend it was like my thing when I was like 5 to go to KayBee or Walmart and get a new turtle toy. Sold them all at a garage sale for like 50 cents a pop too. Wish I still had them.

I kinda want a show based on the original early 80s comic. Closest we got was in the early 2000s show, there was a big event called Turtleverse or whatever and they introduced the multiverse. The 2000s turtles met the 80s cartoon and the comic . The comic turtles were super hardcore and edgy

80s cartoon ones were jokesters and the 2000s turtles the normal middle ground

Yeah, in his first appearance he really wasn't evil and wanted to use his Mousers to benefit humanity. However the problem wasn't that the Mousers wouldn't work, it was that they worked too well and would have ended up putting the exterminators out of business.

SSJ2GrimReaper posted... 2003 series stockman got f***ed over too over time until he basically became a head in a jar

Yeah and that's because 2003 Shredder actually went through with his threats of punishing Baxter whenever he failed. First he took one of Baxter's eyes, an arm and so on that Baxter ended up in a wheel chair. And when Baxter failed again he got reduced to a head attached to a robot and it got worse from there.

Im still buttmad that they couldnt use the original voice actors for the 80s cast in Turtles Forever.

Honestly the 03 show was basically just the 80s comic, lol. Every major story from the original run was adapted, and even some of the filler issues. (Like the time traveller Renet, or those hillbilly terrorists). Besides having to tone down the violence, it was pretty faithful, and the parts it deviated from were usually an improvement. >_>

The original comic honestly wasnt too edgy outside of issue 1. It was originally a one and done parody/homage of Frank Miller but when they realized people wanted more it quickly found a more "normal" tone lol

So the comic is responsible for shredder being an alien or some weird shit like that?

Nah that was 03. Almost every piece of Shredder lore outside the origin story is original to whatever media it's depicted in because Shredder dies in Issue 1 and is almost completely absent from the rest of the series except for Return to New York. Utrom Shredder might be better than the comics though because in the comics' Return to New York storyline the Shredder they fought was some weird test-tube clone made of worms or some shit lmao

But pretty much everything leading up to their confrontation was from the comics. Finding a brain-damaged Tricertaton in the sewers, the science lab full of Shredder clones, the building blowing up, even Leo beheading Shredder

Questionmarktarius posted... Should have stayed a black dude.

One of those "they were so close to realizing" moments on part of the writers. They didn't want the only prominent Black character to be a villain. The natural decision then was to turn him white, rather than add more black characters. >___>
