Really loved the first two episodes and hyped for more.

This episode was the best so far imo.

Still seems like there's going to be no conclusion by the end of it. We're halfway through and barely have the exposition sorted out. Are they planning on more seasons?

Also, how tf does this series cost $200 million per episode? The effects are top notch but all the actors are no names and they aren't doing anything obscenely crazy in terms of sets. In fact I'm pretty sure 90% of them are green screens.

There's 5 seasons already planned.

Wait, there's only 6 episodes in the season?

Price per episode is that actual production costs or does it include the rights to the property split up over the episodes?

That was a pretty good episode. Arondir is a fucking badass.

I guess this is the start of Mordor. I'm also guessing Halbrand is one of the 9 kings and potentially even The Witch King.

I wonder who or what was calling out to Isildur. Was it calling from Numenor or was that Middle-Earth?

They are about to make up a whole bunch of shit to fill in blanks that will directly contradict things established in the Silmarillion.

The show has been good so far, but I don't know how I feel about that.

Yeah it almost seems better that I never read that so I cant even tell what is supposed to be lore and what isnt. Its all just new material to me outside of a few names.

I'm guessing they're at the end of the Second Age which seems right for Isildur. The problem is that the Rings were made almost 2,000 years before during the middle of the SA.

I thought it was boring. I want to like it but meh

Halbrand = Sauron, meteor man = Gandalf

Halbrand is 100% a future Nazgul. With five seasons planned it makes a lot of sense to have some character development for them before they fall.

Good info. I then wonder if the endgame for this entire show is gonna be Barud Dur. That's where Sauron loses and doesn't really show up again till the Hobbit/LotR era.

I tihnk it's gotta end before that, no? That lready got shown in the intro to Fellowship.

Also that whole war lasted over a decade.

I'm assuming they have to somehow defeat Sauron, otherwise it's kind of weird to have him as the main looming threat over several seasons.

Then again, they did kind of do that in The Hobbit with the Necromancer. A small victory over him, but we knew where he was heading.

I feel like they'll definitely end with Barad-Dur, or maybe even go as far as the disappearance of the ring in the Gladden Fields.

They arent paying attention to the lore at all. The goal is to end with the giant battle shown in the prequel to the movies

It doesn't really effect anything unless you're being a complete purist. There's like barely any people of color in this and it doesn't change how the world feels unless your angling for a VERY SPECIFIC idea, which frankly I wouldn't even want to entertain for any reason.

And when people call it "woke"... People would have a point at calling it "woke" if suddenly a Black Elf was in this world and suddenly the legendarium and lore get sidelined for some overt monologue preach about color and colonialism and slaves, but they aren't doing that AT ALL. It's just Black actors being characters in the Tolkien universe.

The last scene of the show is gonna be Smeagol and Deagol on the boat.

House of the Dragon race swapped some characters and is getting a ton of praise and hardly any backlash. Maybe because one show has good writing, and the other doesnt?

They mention them at the start of the first episode, but then they really start with Galadriel looking for Sauron, but he hadn't been seen in centuries.

No. Celebrimbor is in the early stages of planning the forging of the all the rings in the show.

It does technically, but that's because they completely moved when the rings are forged during the SA.

Do people even know what bad writing is? Theres no sand is bad dialogue here and Ive found some nice lines here and there.

Just because its not how you want it to be or the lore is changed doesnt make it bad.
