You'd think people would learn from Chrono Cross that having a ton of party members only works if it is something like Pokemon or Xcom, not a regular JRPG like Suikoden. I agree that CC didn't do the huge party roster that well, but I wouldn't say the same about Suikoden. Like somebody else said, all the stars physically show up in your HQ doing specific tasks or socializing together. They move around to different areas and sometimes trigger small optional scenes when you enter the room. I kept feeling hesitant about starting an old school rpg without modern conveniences like no load times, saving anywhere, maybe even double speed...
