My current Samsung's lasted at least 10 years. Not sure about the new ones though.

What's your budget?

https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/recommendation

one of the best review sites ever.

General points:
  • Sony buys panels from LG or Samsung, and generally provides better visual quality through the chip and software. They also use Android TV, which is probably the best one for a smart TV. Generally more expensive than the competition however.
  • LG and Samsung are similarly priced and have their own strengths and weaknesses. Samsung in general does not support Dolby Vision because they are a backer of HDR10+. Their new QD-OLEDs are better than LG's more mature WOLED.
  • LG uses WebOS, not bad, but more locked in than AndroidTV.
  • Samsung uses Tizen? Would be alright, but has a lot of ads.

If you use AppleTV or smart boxes then the OS doesn't matter.

I see a lot of good things about LG and Samsung. I also see they are the worst with built in ads. I dont care to much about ads but if you have a more recent TV are they intrusive? Or just something advertised on an app page?
