I played a ton of Diablo 2 when I was a kid, and that was part of the fun of the grind. Making wise decisions with your skill points.

I feel like respeccing should be an option. But if it's made completely free it can feel really cheesy.

I suppose it depends on a game, because in payday 2 I like the easy respec, but in divinity OS 2 it felt way too cheesy.

There's literally no reason to not allow easy ways to redistribute points.
You still have to plan your build, still have to know what you're doing.

Just means you don't have to scrap an entire character after an update, or start over brand new just to try a new build.

This coming from someone who's put hundreds of hours into D2 and D2r

No resetting but giving the player enough points to just learn everything anyway by the level cap is the best way to do it

I kind of like overcoming the mess I created with no option out. It's like real life.

Eh. Temptation is a mother fucker. At least have a button to set it off so you don't gotta deal with losing to your current mood and later regretting it and in your mind cheapening your playthrough lol.

entirely depends on the game. moreso in games where a build's true playstyle and viability in challenging content doesn't become evident until much later in the game, or is gated behind gear with abilities.

I mean theoretically every build should be viable but that's most often not the case so skill resets should be easy.

Depends on the game.

It sucked in WoW when you couldn't change talents around easily, but Elden Ring's more limited respec works far better than just freely letting you swap.

If you're talking about pre-1.13 D2, fuck that. Post 1.13 is fine.
You should never be able to ruin a character that you've put hundreds of hours into.
