Dunno, it looks like japan just discovered rtwp system and made a very basic copy of infinity engine games mechanic with anime art

I haven't really paid much attention to it. So many games are being released lately that I can't find time for them all. The gameplay reminds me of Growlanser, which I adored. I'll keep an eye on it, and maybe pick it up on a sale.

Strategy/tactics games are among my favorites.

This game got lost in the shuffle and I didn't really hear about it.

Not sure what Square Enix is doing. Valkyrie Elysium, Diofield Chronicle, Harvestella, Star Ocean, Tactics Ogre are all releasing within weeks of each other.

I played the demo during lunch and also made that Growlanser comparison. I think Im gonna get this game.

Different studios under them. Heck, at least one of them merely has SE as the publisher. And Valkyrie Elysium isn't even just a tri ace thing anymore.

If nothing else, I'll be getting 3 of them this year.

I played the demo thinking I would love it, but I really do not like RTS games and this had a little too much for me (basically any amount). I like turn based games more than ones I feel rushed :3

I'll piggyback on this. I like RTS to an extent. I've played a good amount of Starcraft and Warcraft 2/3. This game feels a lot like that, but with things like positional acuity and attack radius to account for. It feels awkward and cumbersome with a controller. It can work, but you're fighting the controller somewhat. I want to see how it feels on PC.

And yeah, the gameplay reminds me of Growlanser, and I like the medieval, non-anime aesthetic that Square Enix likes to use for Final Fantasy.

I just got done playing Original Sin 2 with a controller and its so just awesomely done. Chilling back with my controller and taking my time to think tactics through. I tried this one with a controller and yeah when things get sped up with the RTS elements, things get a bit funky. I might try again with more emphasis on pausing though, cuz I think you can pretty much fully pause at any time and think moves through.

Oddly enough I had no issue at all with it. But to be fair, I'm used to pressing odd button combinations frequently since I play FFXIV on console. And I'm used to the rts maneuvering stuff because of all the times I played Growlanser IV Wayfarer of Time. If you can master the mechanics you could basically map out the entire pathing for every individual character without issue and be able to apply skills as they come up for whoever needs to use one.

I'll probably get it on a sale at some point. The demo was fun, I liked everything about it except for one massive thing..

Time limits per battle for best rank. They weren't challenging, but they dont let me play as I like to play games. I prefer turn based and strategy games for a reason, I dont get enjoyment out of "go go go" games.

Yeah, it can work, but things like the cursor auto-focusing on the nearest target when trying to create pincers are a bother when you're not used to it. The game is definitely built around deliberate pausing and choosing your actions in the heat of battle.

I just downloaded and tried the demo on PC. It plays _much_ more familiar to RTS/Diablo style. Much more smooth gameplay for the style of game.

I've played FFXI on PC and Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time on Vita a bunch. I didn't have that much difficulty there, but the RTS elements were much more rudimentary than they are in DioField Chronicle.

I still need to finish Triangle Stratedy.

Ill end up buying it sometime this year.

I was gonna buy it day 1, but the mixed reviews have convinced me to wait for a sale. As someone else mentioned there are a ton of other games coming out soon. I still plan to get Tactics Ogre on day 1

I'm almost done with it and the twists are interesting enough. But super difficult except the occasional boss fight where you have to kill everything and they have several mini bosses fighting you at the same time. In those cases it just takes forever unless you did a lot of grinding. Still, I do see myself speedrunning it.
