Interest in this series seems to be lukewarm at best here, so I suppose Im the dork that has to make the topic.

I just cant imagine caring about a prequel to fucking Rogue One of all things.

Rogue One was the good one, and while Andor himself doesn't particularly excite me, other characters in this story like Saw and Mon Mothma do

I think it's pretty understandable the a show about a character most people couldn't remember the name of...

...from a cast most people can't remember the names of...

...from a movie most people can't rememeber half of...

...isn't getting a lot of hype

Everything I've seen from early reviews sounds fantastic, and given I greatly enjoyed the tone of Rogue One, this has me pretty hyped.

I enjoyed RO in theaters but watching it in prep for this was kinda anti-hype material

nice to see more Saw Mothma again tho

Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie since 2005 so I'm pretty hopeful for this. Andor as a character could be a vehicle to some themes the Star Wars universe has desperately needed to explore, I'm basically just waiting to see if there's enough of a lack of corporate fuckery in this show to let them tell that story.

That's exactly what you SHOULD give a series to! That's how you expand the franchise is new and unique ways - not by doing Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Its a story that happens to lead into Rogue One, but thats not whats important at all.

Might be the least interested I've been in anything Star Wars related. This would have to be DAMN good to make it worth watching for me.

Two words my friend: Tony Gilroy.

Seriously, forget about Andor himself or this as a prequel to Rogue One, this is basically the Star Wars political thriller from the guy behind Bourne and Michael Clayton. If the early buzz and trailers are to be believed this should be easily the best of the Star Wars shows.

So yes, hype!

I don't care about Cassian either, but the show seems like it could be pretty damn good regardless. It actually looks like Star Wars. The sets and costumes are all on point. At least from what we've seen, the actual show will probably still have some low budget scenes... just hoping it doesn't get as bad as the little Leia chases.

It's worth noting that Disney has a huge amount of confidence in this show, to the point where they greenlit a second season months ago. This doesn't guarantee it'll be good, but clearly the money people at least see potential.

I'm not super hyped for the show overall, but I do have to admit the trailers have all been well done and I'll be watching.

Yeah, I'm not hyped for it, and honestly, that makes me have higher expectations. The Mandalorian was good because it had room to tell stories with new characters. Cassian isn't a new character, and the cast won't be, but a 12 episode season implies to me that it won't just be a quick spring like Obi-Wan was, and some of the recent MCU's.

Obi-Wan should have been a movie, and indeed was originally a movie. They literally rewrote the movie scripts, the writers for that get writer credits and everything. The resulting issue was that it felt too long to be a movie-worthy story and too short to be a series-worthy story.

Well, I happened to be up when the episode premiered, so I might as well check out.

It opens with an unarmed man pleading for his life being shot in the head by the main character, so yeah, it kind of has my interest. I'll give it a go.

ep 1 beated, definitely great production quality, Cassian is more likeable than I remember, though still not really a big hook yet and I'm just watching because Star Wars

alright yeah pretty good so far, first 3 eps really are like a set movie together to get the show on the road and I'm looking forward to where it goes from here - cassian's remained pretty well likeable and luthen/skarsgard is hype

flashbacks culminated in a pretty touching story to coincide with launching Cassian's new journey

and ayyyyyyy Timm get fucked lmao, that death felt so unnecessary but it got me cheering

package 1-3 as a movie and it's better than all the Disney Era films, not that that's saying much

Easily the best start for any Star Wars show.

I won't go quite that far, though I will say it's established itself very well.

I'm hesitant to say it just yet, but after three episodes, it strikes me as a winner.

Goes to show - these shows are better when you give them time to develop.

Yeah, I wouldn't say it's the best start since I found Mandalorian instantly riveting, but the first episode was pretty good.

we've also found the Star Wars version of Dwight Schrute

The final fifteen minutes of the the third episode won me over. Pushed it from great to excellent, in my mind. I think, if this is the origin story and we move forward with some real momentum, it has a chance to, at the very least, give Mandalorian a run for its money.

the start of another slow burn arc it seems, though I do find it interesting to actually see imperials as real characters

Yeah, it was great

Good episode, the constant feeling of mistrust in literally every interaction in this show is outstanding

Slow burn continues for next week to do its thing as the 3rd part again.

Given there wasn't much commentary last week, probably the same for this week which certainly has less to offer... it's kinda last week repeated and less interesting on the Imperial, Mothma, Luthen segments tbh. Didn't really progress as much as the last arc's mid-episode did.

This series would be better if they released it in packs of 3 episodes/viewed in packs of 3

I still love the palpable tension in literally every interaction

Not relating to Andor but I feel so stupid for realizing only in the last few days that Luke was specifically drawing from his own experience in warning Rey not to go through with her plan of heading straight into the lion's den in an attempt to convince Kylo to turn good in The Last Jedi.

I kind of hope this topic would be a bit more conducive to me bringing up "YouTube randos" than the MCU ones. I do kind of feel like the amount of smack talk about the sequel trilogy, particularly TLJ, combined with my general lack of Star Wars knowledge just played total havoc on me. I have also finished watching The Book of Boba Fett and I'm in complete agreement the best episode didn't have Boba! It doesn't seem like any of the new Star Wars shows have pissed people off the way the ST did though, at worst getting a shrug of "that happened".

This is the first Star Wars show since mandorian where Im truly excited and looking forward to the next episode. Its definitely interesting that Andor is so high quality when youd think Obi-Wan wouldve been the show to get all the love .
