Waiting for my doctor to call but I'm thinking of dropping this shit. I started taking it for anxiety and it works but the side effects while sleeping are becoming a deal breaker.
I'm now punching and kicking, I broke 2 toes kicking the coffee table while sleeping on the couch, and today my fiancee said I got in her face and yelled at her to shut up while we were in bed. Don't remember it.

This sucks, I'm trying to get better mentally but now I'm worried I'm going to hurt someone including myself (no I don't mean suicide) if I don't get off this stuff

Also consult with your doctor before you outright stop taking it.

Withdrawal effects from suddenly stopping any brain chemistry affecting meds are not something to fuck around with

Yeah I'm waiting on a call back. Sadly mental health care is a fucking joke in Iowa. This is exactly what I was worried about when I went on meds, if it's going to be weeks before she can see me I'll just start weaning myself off it slowly.

Also don't think this will be how every medication will be. You have to be very very lucky to get the right one on the first try.

I'm going on three years in my journey of actively trying to better my mental health and only just recently found a medication combination that addresses my needs for the most part.

It sucks, a lot, but if you want to have access to medication as a tool for handling mental health it is a process.

Yeah fuck that. Good luck finding something else. I hope it's not all SSRIs that do this to you.

I recently changed jobs and I'm thinking that will help the anxiety. My old job I wasn't able to do effectively after starting the meds (memory and motivation went to shit) and this new one should be a better fit for me where I'm at now so hopefully I can go back to no meds where I was before

It's looking that way unfortunately. I started on Fluoxetine which made me a zombie and I couldn't remember anything or focus at all. Switched to Luvox which doesn't have those effects on me but now I'm afraid to even share a bed with my fiancee since I've already attacked her once in my sleep. I feel so bad and she gets it but still. Like I don't even raise my voice to her so she's pretty upset

Fluoxetine

Yeah, definitely was *not* a fan of that myself.

Hopefully the change of scenery helps out.

I was on that very briefly about 25 years ago. I would get light headed randomly and would feel like I was about to pass out, just like... while walking around. I don't even know what I was supposed to be on it for and it wasn't doing anything for me at all except having that side effect. The psychiatrist who prescribed it was worthless and I stopped taking it and never saw her again.

Thanks, I think it will. New job is more structured and I have an actual office instead of working from home and in the field so eventually I should be able to go back to no meds.

Fluvoxamine is for anxiety, depression, OCD and a few other things its not an antibiotic.

I had that too on the Fluoxitine, not to the point of passing out but extremely light headed usually after getting up. Didn't care for that either so I switched to Luvox which doesn't have the side effects of the Fluoxetine but makes me psychotic in my sleep which is honestly terrifying.

You can't get some sort of emergency consultation over this? If your doctor knows this and you continue to harm yourself/others, that's on them.

how long have you been on it? I want to say I was only on it for a number of weeks. Less than 3 months, maybe less than 2 (hard to remember. I was a teenager back then. Time worked differently lol). If that develops when you've been on it longer, I'm extremely glad I went off it when I did >_>

Not really, I've been relaying through her receptionist throughout the day. I'm in the middle of nowhere Iowa, therapist is 40 minutes away and literally everyone is booked solid. She told me what I figured, take a half pill/day for a week then every other day for a week.

It's been about 6 weeks and the side effects started about 3 weeks in. I was transitioning off the fluoxetine and taking both for about 2 weeks so figured it could be lingering or interacting whatever.
Crazy thing is she wanted to double it from 50mg to 100mg so I'm kind of glad this happened before we did that.
