Medicaid is pretty much government paying healthcare for people whose companies dont pay them enough. Same for Snap benefits. Then those people use those food stamps in places like walmart

Lots of companies are rich thanks to government contracts. Lots of times inflating the price of labor for the sake of juicy profits.

Also school is what prepares citizens to become elegible to work at most places/entry level jobs.

So yeah, lots of people in the US are rich thanks to socialism.

Yeah, I'm on Medicaid because Amazon Whole Foods decided it didn't want to pay for health insurance for part-time employees anymore.
In my case, that worked out, because CT's Medicaid program is better than the insurance I was getting from Whole Foods, but a ton of us were not so lucky.

Also, these topics make me laugh, because itemized deductions exist and they can save you an obscene amount of money, assuming you have enough assets to make it worthwhile to itemize. There's a shit ton of tax breaks that disproportionately benefit the middle and upper classes, and the very wealthy and corporations usually end up paying a lower tax rate than middle class and even working class people. Like, fucking seriously: how many cashiers do you know who have mortgages? How many have investment income that they get to pay an arbitrarily lower tax rate on?
But the messaging around tax breaks is completely different from the messaging around, say...TANF.

What if I told you I don't care about hooking up with high maintanence Superstar thots or drugs, cars, huge mansions, partying or traveling all over. I don't care about being the best or the most influential or chasing expensive flavors. I don't care about a legacy. I just want to live and be unnoticed by society as a whole doing some minor good occasionally while doing my best to not bother others. If my works are released and successful I want to be anonymous. I really don't fucking care for how society is organized or judges value and success.

Once I am comfortable and secure I really don't care how much they take. I really can't be bothered. I don't want a vast excess of what I need. Just a bit extra is all I need.

I just want to not have to work so I can just fuck around making stories and drawing without feeling too tired and distracted to get my ADHD ass to actually start doing so in earnest. I have big ideas but my self worth is not tied to fantastic wealth, fame or doing everything as big as possible.

To the person who says does Jeff Bezos work 5000x harder than his warehouse employee...the answer is YES. If you plot on a 3D chart hard work vs smart work vs time (their lifespans), he absolutely would have 5000x more area under the curve than a warehouse employee who never worked hard in school, college, and stumbled his way into a minimum wage job. The other factor is, if it wasn't for bezos, that warehouse worker would be unemployed and probably wouldn't be able to buy cheap shit on amazon. Both people benefit.

So people can just eat shit and die if they don't work smart, whatever the fuck that means? CEOs rob their workers blind every day and it simply isn't possible for everyone to come up with a revolutionary idea and be the head of a company. There have to be workers and they are far more important to the everyday operation of the company. They don't need to all be billionaires, but they shouldn't be struggling to pay rent. I bent over backwards, went above and beyond every day for years for a thankless corporation and you're bright solution for people like me is "herp derp should have worked smarter too!!" If everyone worked the right way in the right fields, you'd still need millions of people doing grunt work. Should people in that world just be screwed because fate didn't select them to be in an executive position?

But gotta say it's funny that people think it's okay for people to leech off the government when they have "fuck you" money. People will debase themselves to defend billionaires that don't give a fuck about them, but cry foul when someone "has it easy" by living on food stamps.

The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their student loans and medical bills will foam up about their waists and all the poors and lazy will look up and shout 'STOP MOOCHING!'...and I'll look down and whisper 'No.'

Thats just the way society is structured that a large bulk of people will settle for minimum wage jobs and have no ambition to go further. Their circumstances may be all different and some unfortunate where they have little choice. But most of these people will not really look to advance their careers or look to other career paths. You can't spoon feed everyone in this world.

And yes my solution to you is that you should've worked smarter. So while you were at this thankless corporation, you should've been doing something to invest in your future. These jobs only get you so far. You should've brainstormed different career paths that can make you happier and earn you a better living. Thats where the "hard work" comes in. Being efficient at a job that leads to nowhere is not smart. Maybe save some money and go to trade school. The common example I give is truck driving. It'll be like 3k for driving school and after that you can easily clear 6 figures with benefits being a long-distance truck driver. And while you drive you can listen to audiobooks on management and business ownership, and eventually save enough to buy your own trucks and start a business. I have multiple friends who have no college education who have done this and have become very wealthy. But theres a difference in people. Some people have that ambition to go to the top, others don't and their happy just driving the truck for the rest of their lives. While others won't think twice about working in the warehouse for the rest of their lives.

And macroeconomics doesn't work the way you want it to. You cant just pay everyone a higher wage and drop rent prices for everyone. Everyone will have a ton of spending money, demand for everything will go up, prices will go up, inflation will be rampant, and now you'll be complaining again that you don't have a livable wage because prices of everything went up. A perfect example of that is what happened with housing in the last 3 years. Mortgage rates were very low, yay now everyone can afford a house. uh oh, house prices skyrocketed 40%, now no one can afford a house. Look whats happening now in the economy, wages are going up....up 8% for job-jumpers who quit their old jobs for new higher paying jobs. Thats all great, but inflation is staying super high.

Its simply the way the world works.

I do think the government can do more about controlling rent and house prices. I think they should do more to protect the common people. But raising minimum wage leads to a whole bunch of more problems.
