Good lord

You can talk about more evil or more corrupt but I legitimately think there has never been a more stupid prime minister in history than Liz Truss

In 2 weeks she has destroyed the economy, pissed off most of the country and come across as a complete idiot every step of the way... Then doubled down repeatedly.

Even "This is fine" right wing puppets are for the first time going "Wait... this might not be fine..."

She doesn't understand that while the right wing does nothing but empower the 1% and give them everything they want, they have to PRETEND that they're not solely doing that. She's legitimately too unintelligent to understand that.

Donald Trump understood that, Boris Johnson understood that. Liz Truss is just so utterly fucking stupid and air headed.

"Mortgage rates may have more than doubled for no reason but they're still better than New York" is no comfort to fucking anyone

I've never seen any President give their opponent an upward of 30+ point lead in just 2 weeks time.

Yeah, 1984 happened but it was an abberation.

Tories may have signed their death warrant, they're tied too closely to Brexit (which as I understand is growing ever more unpopular) and just fuck up after fuck up

it's not only a fuck up

It's doubling down on the fuck up, claiming the fuck up wasn't a mistake and WAS the intended plan going as you wanted it to and then insist that you're sticking by the fuck up 100%

It's just so.... stupid...

There is no word more fitting than stupid. As simple as it is

That's the scariest thing about Liz Truss.

With previous shite PMs, their actions came from being self-serving, greedy or downright malicious, which - while still objectively awful - made them at least predictable. You could see their various shitshows coming and at least prepare for it.

But with Liz, she is just genuinely, genuinely stupid. It's not like Boris with his bumbling public persona that he used as a shield to hide his calculating actions. She's just legitimately super dumb, and it makes her pretty much impossible to predict, and very hard to reason with. With Boris there was always the chance that he'd backtrack on his most destructive policies because he was smart enough to know that losing the court of public opinion could be damaging in the long term. Liz genuinely doesn't even seem to understand why her budget is damaging to the country.

It's like today's news about her advising King Charles not to go the the climate summit in Egypt. Is she doing this because rich Tory donors probably have a vested interest in preventing greener policies? Is she doing it because she understands that as a monarch decorum dictates that Charles needs to be less engaged in activism than he was able to be as the heir? Or is she doing it because she saw a documentary with Brendan Fraser about Egypt and she's scared that the King might be eaten by mummies? Nobody knows, because she's just that stupid.

In a vacuum you're right

But Truss is taking full ownership of something that will actively make nearly everyone poorer and struggle to own a home during a finicial crisis.

And she is openly ignoring every single relevant body (Businesses, banks, housing assocations etc) all loudly and openly point out that this budget doesn't work.

Even if 6 months from now they've forgotten Boris and Ukraine and everything else, they will still know that their bills used to be smaller and they will still know wherher or not they can afford a home.

And Truss has made it impossible for the usual Tory line of blaming Europe, gays, trans, immigrants and transgenders to work because she has taken full accounting for HER budget that she created which has caused this fire.

Boris never did that. Cameron never did that.

Even fucking DONALD TRUMP never did that.

Would be a long con. She's been in the cabinet for 10 years and sucked up to every Tory in power.

Plus it's not like we don't know what she's doing. She's actively giving the 1% everything they want and fucking everyone else. Huge Tax cuts solely for the uber rich, legalized fracking, removal of Bonus Caps for bankers, military intervention to stomp down on unions and protests, removal of equal rights for minorities and transgenders.

She just doesn't know that she's supposed to pretend those aren't her sole and only goals.

I think it's much more likely that she's just a complete idiot.

Normally when a new PM takes over, the approval ratings for the party tend to go up (if only temporaily). Truss must have been the first one to cause their party's reputation to hit the dirt. Lifetime conversative voters are switching to Labour. Latest polls suggest that if a general election was held tomorrow, the Conservatives would only end up with six seats (Labour would get over 500). The Liberal Democrats would be the official opposition which is hilarious to think about.

It takes a lot to be worse than Boris but Liz Truss is so out of her depth. Not only that but she killed the queen.

Growth by shrinking the economy at rapid rates.

It reminds me of those year to year/month to month comparison charts where the economy was up like 50% or soemthing during the Covid months and pointing at that and going "SEE? INSANE GROWTH!" while ignoring you're still down 20% overall.

It'd be like getting blown out 23-0 in a soccer game and in the final seconds, scoring your first goal and going "See? It's not all bad"

It really goes to show that there was a level below BoJo. Which is almost unfathomable but here we are.

She looks like such a muppet too. I legitimately had to go google her to make sure thats what she really looks like. Something about her just looksoff putting to say the least. And this is coming again right after BoJo.

I only follow UK politics casually but this is just bizarre from all angles. Shes like an even worse Thatcher.

Yeah Truss keeps saying "Everything we're doing is to "help" working familes and people looking for work by "encouraging" them to get better jobs!"

Which translates to raising costs and cutting Universial Credit under the myth of "They'll pull themselves up by their bootstraps."

And of course, all these "Bootstrap" fellas are millionaires who were born into wealth who have never had to suffer debt, homelessness, food banks or experience consequences

I get the feeling that the Tories are setting Truss up to take the blame of everything. Like, which PR consultant in their right mind would send her out doing so many interviews right now where in every single case they make her look a lot worse?

But here's the thing, they didn't.

Truss basically hid after doing the budget

Then the interviews she did were local radio, not national interviews like anyone in her position would normally do. They only got attention because they were so awful

She's barely any national exposure since making this dramatically terrible budget.

Also "Take the blame for everything" doesn't really work when

  1. She really is to blame for this rapid problem
  2. The tory MPs are bending over backwards to defend her. Often falling over each other to do it
The collaspe in the pound has been defended as actually Starmers fault, REmainers fault, The Bank of England's fault, a neccessary evil before a great profit and the intended plan all along. Since the MPs haven't recieved consistent marching orders yet about how to defend the policy.

We even heard "The pound is going back up!" as a defense.... after it dropped to a 40 year low, it went back up a little due to the Bank intervention, then plummeted again when Truss doubled down

She's certainly to blame for a lot. But things weren't terrific before she came to power. I'm thinking that the current media strategy just doesn't make sense. It could of course just be that the PR dept are incompetent, but I don't think that's likely. To me at least, it's more likely that she's being set up to be the end-all be-all baddy in an attempt to repair the Tories' reputation after the clusterfuck of circuses that have been going on ever since Theresa May took office.

This is true but she has passionatle poured gallons and gallons and gallons of gasoline onto a roaring fire and then loudly screamed that it's the the correct thing to do.

That's indefensibie

I'm thinking that the current media strategy just doesn't make sense. It could of course just be that the PR dept are incompetent, but I don't think that's likely. That doesn't make sense. The nose dive in tory popularity and recent screw up was entirely on Truss.

Conservatives have been dominating with 80 seat majorities despite being blazenly corrupt criminals who do the bidding of the 1% for years.

Truss just was too stupid to realize she was supposed to pretend that she wasn't doing that .

How any of that can be Tories "improving their reputation" is asinine

IF anything this was their oppotunity to sweep everything under Boris/Putin and then have Truss ride in and save the day.

And they've announced the U-turn on the 45p tax rate because it looked like a lot of Conservative MPs would vote against their own government regarding this.

It looks better to the public to say "we're listening to you!" instead of losing the vote in the House of Commons which you supposedly have a majority in.
