For the Why didnt I think of that? file: A startup that sells water in beer cans thats literally it is approaching a $1 billion valuation. Liquid Death raised a fresh funding round Monday, bringing its valuation to $700 million. Since its launch in 2019, the brand has had explosive growth thanks in part of because of its loyal fans, subversive marketing and unique packaging that its latest investor thinks it might be the fastest growing non-alcoholic beverage of all time. Science Ventures led the latest round of $70 million. Liquid Death said it is on track to bring in $130 million in revenue this year nearly triple last years revenue. With this momentum, the company is beginning to lay the groundwork for the IPO path in case it makes sense for the business as well as expand into Europe, wrote investor Peter Pham in a Medium post.

Liquid Death is sold in 16-ounce cans at popular stores (including Target, 7-Eleven and Whole Foods), online and at concerts because of a deal it has with Live Nation. It recently expanded into flavored seltzer with unique flavors such as Mango Chainsaw and Severed Line. Pham said the companys name helped bolster its success. Like Tesla moved drivers toward better-for-the-planet EVs through sleek a great product and brand that became part of culture, Pham wrote. Liquid Death is moving people toward healthier and sustainable drinking options, not by preaching to them, but by entertaining them and making them a part of something bigger in culture.

Probably because a lot of concert venues switched their only water option to it and charge upwards of 10 dollars for one fucking can of it.

yeah this. only thing is that they have no moat and any other company can (and will) copy it with their own can designs and the cooler one will win.

I had one for the first time last week at a concert. Was kinda annoyed they didn't just sell water bottles, but it was alright. The fact that it's in a can kinda messes up my brain and my taste buds' expectations because I'm thinking it's gonna taste like beer or sparkling water, but nah. It's just plain water. Still prefer bottles.

I like it. Same price at a concert for bottles. And the water at concerts was always Dasani, so this was a great move

I had it once and was annoyed I paid $5 for it. I didnt know if it was alcohol or an energy drink. Id rather have tap water. I think celebs endorse it heavily and it gained traction with the young and rich crowd.

Where the fuck did you pay $5 for it lol

Around me it's usually 2 & change, about the same as smart water. And their flavored water actually tastes really good...helps you cut back on sodas tbh

At some plant based restaurant in Washington. They gotta get their money too I guess. I didnt know they had flavored water either. Might taste a bit better. The can messes with the flavor for me since Im used to bottled or from the tap.

It's objectively a net positive over plastic water bottles as a purchasable water option. I'm still not going to buy it in 95% of situations because I'll just go with tap water and I have a reusable water bottle.

But anything that tries to reduce the use of plastic is a major plus.

Yeah I've been seeing it for years. Then one day it just became very mainstream. Another fun fact, the guy who designs the art on the cans worked on Mr. Pickles. Another Metal-adjacent product.
