Put a hold on a copy for pick-up, but can cancel it. Should I go through with this? Or is it not worth it?

(Brilliant Diamond is out of stock because it was already picked clean from this sale)

Eh, it was one of those "you had to play it when it came out for the best experience" games. The only part of the game that holds up is the Battle Tower (which is on par with several previous games' modes). If you like playing Battle Tower, get the game, if you don't, it's probably not worth buying.

For a split second this topic made me consider getting it... then I changed my mind instantly because everything I've seen of it just looks so bad, and I really love Platinum.

I have it and have not yet finished it, because it's just...kind of a step down from the original in terms of what I want from it thus far, particularly difficulty. Forced exp share from what I can tell, and the whole affection system granting random buffs both have made me pretty overleveled thus far.

I'm only up to the 3rd gym though, maybe stuff gets better later on. The art style doesn't really bother me, and I enjoy the remade OST thus far. But the overleveling just irks me, I'm someone who doesn't like skipping battles but I've begun to do so in an effort to preserve some level of challenge.

It's unfortunate, I was actually excited for these remakes, the artstyle highly appeals to me. And I was anticipating joy at playing through a gen I had less familiarity with.

But god damn they just had to retroactively apply permanent exp share and it single handedly ruined the experience. At least it can be somewhat excused in the newer games where you have a plethora of different pokes to supplement your team when it gets too overpowered. Fourth gen does not have that luxury. I got exponentially sick of stumbling upon wild Ponyta.

And I tried working around it by carrying a team of two or three and switching them around periodically. But it just became more trouble than it was worth and simply wasn't a fun way to play.
